We went to the gardens on Monday and they are truly magnificent! You can spend the whole day exploring them, so many different elements, including the kitchen garden, a maze and a grotto!

How amazing in Vernon Kay doing his ultramarathon challenge for BBC Children in Need? He's been walking 115 miles from Leicester to Bolton, via the beautiful Peak District.

We're located about 40 mins drive (and a stunning drive at that) from Edale where you can start many beautiful walks, including up to Kinder Scout.

Chatsworth House and its surrounding estate is such a wonderful place to visit. It's advisable to pre-book your ticket to the house and gardens, but the rest of the estate is free to explore. You often see deer, lots of sheep and there's a wonderful cafe in Edensor the village built to house people who worked at the house.

The Angel at Holmesfield is a fantastic (and gluten free) place to eat. It's a few minutes drive, or about a 45min walk from the Lodge, and you'll definitely need to book in advance because the food is so delicious!

We love walking around Baslow Edge, and it's so lovely if you do spot the herd of Highland cows. The Curbar Gap car park is about 15 mins drive form the Lodge and is free for National Trust and RSPB members.

Casa Latina is about a five minute walk from the Lodge, is open at the weekends and serves delicious tapas. Booking ahead is always a good idea. Their contact details are on their page.

Chatsworth is beautiful all year round, but we especially love it in the autumn when the leaves are changing colour. It's less than 30 mins drive from the apartment and you can visit the grounds for free, or book to visit the house and/or gardens.

We’re open again tomorrow 9am-5pm… PLUS Chris from will be joining us serving his burgers & hotdogs - we can confirm they are DELICIOUS! 🍔🌭

🛖 Our shepherds hut is also open selling hot chocolates, homemade cakes, soft drinks, hot drinks & pumpkin pies 🥧 please note all of our cakes & pies are completely homemade… so we may run out later into the afternoon. This cannot be helped, we can only do as much as we can do 🤗

We had a brilliant time at The Underdog pub last night, which is just a few minutes down hill from our property. We stopped by for a quick drink after a walk, and ended up staying for the quiz which was great fun!
