What a chilly but BEAUtiful day at Polmaily House in the Highlands of Scotland. Perfect for using the recently built sledging slope! I think that this house probably has the most activities of all self catering houses. I Know our guests arriving tomorrow are looking forward to lots of fun in the glistening snow.
All we need now is a name for our new sledging slope. The Cretsa run? The Polmaily Plummet? Any ideas?

Someone has to be the first to say it, - 'MERRY CHRISTMAS!''.With our recent covering of snow, our new toboggan run well and truly broken in and the 4 Christmas trees and decorations up, we could not resist being among the first to pass on the warmest of festive greetings to all our past and future guests at Polmaily House.
The house is ready for the first of our festive guests arriving next week.
Whilst you have missed out this year, do not forget that the house is decorated from 1 December every year and available for your pre-Christmas, Christmas and Hogmanay celebrations. We are having three Christmases this year and the first with our new grandchildren - very exciting!

OUR HEATED INDOOR SWIMMING POOL WILL REMAIN OPEN ALL WINTER! Thanks to the continued support of our regular swimmers and Take The Plunge, who offer swimming lessons on Tuesdays at the pool, we will be keeping the swimming pool open throughout the winter and over the festive period. The pool will be open from 8am to 8pm.
Despite considerable costs in doing this, we are confident that there will be enough people using the pool to be able to keep it open every winter. The pool will continue to be kept at a temperature of 30 degrees plus so is perfect for everyone who might enjoy the private use of a lovely warm swimming pool from as little as £12 per hour.
You can see availability and book the pool via our online booking system on our website www.polmailyhouselochness.co.uk.
We will also still be offering pool parties for a maximum of 12 swimmers.
You can book the pool up to one month in advance but parties should be booked by contacting us directly via email.

Touring girls rugby team looking for fixtures in the Highlands. My son is the coach of a very successful group of under 11 and under 12 rugby players from Hertford Rugby Club.
The girls and their families will be staying here with us at Polmaily House from Friday 4 - Monday 7 April, 2025 and are looking for friendly fixtures against other girl or mixed teams whilst here in the Highlands. We have been trying to liaise with Highland Rugby Club but would love to hear from other rugby clubs in and around Inverness.

Calling all twitchers!
It still amazes me to see the fantastic wildlife without even having to leave the grounds of Polmaily House.
Pine martens have had their young here; an otter and two herons are regularly on look out for our brown trout in the pond; red squirrels scamper across the roof of the swimming pool; wild cats amble by without a care in the world and red kites circle above spotting a tasty morsel or two.
Our most recent regular visitor can be found almost every morning (this morning included) on the putting green seemingly looking for worms. It is obviously a bird of prey and has very long legs. It stands about 60cm, tall but what kind of bird is it? I have been telling people we have an eagle in our garden. Am I right?
Any expert out there able to put the record straight once and for all? Apologies about the poor picture!

PART-TIME GARDENER / GARDEN HELP REQUIRED. Keeping 6 acres looking good is becoming more and more of a challenge at Polmaily House! We are looking for someone who can help out on a regular or ad-hoc basis. Maybe even a regular one day a week might be available for the right person. All equipment provided. Even though there are only 133 days to CHRISTMAS, it is still not too late to book your family pre-Christmas break at Polmaily House, Loch Ness. We are offering a large discount on any 3 night break during December, 2024 (2 night breaks might be considered) for you and your loved ones to enjoy a pre-Christmas celebration.
This event proved very popular last year so we expect available dates to go quite quickly. The house will be beautifully decorated with 6 Christmas trees and all the associated Christmas sparkle both inside and outside the house.
Who knows maybe even a white 'Christmas' awaits your group.
Why not visit and feed the only wild reindeer herd in the country whilst you are here or go skiing or simply chill in front of the roaring open fire watching a Christmas movie?

PART-TIME HELP NEEDED. Our guests are looking for some help to tidy up in the kitchen and around the house during their stay. They arrive on 5 August for 12 nights but want help for at least 7 days at £15 per hour 8am - midday.

FREE pickleball now at Polmaily House! Why not get out and play some pickleball - one of the country's fastest growing sports. We have a newly re-surfaced court and will supply all the equipment needed.
If you would like to play, it is essential that you book a slot with us by contacting us through our email address on our website www.polmailyhouselochness.co.uk. Please also note that there is a maximum of 4 players and children must be closely supervised at all times and stay on the pickleball court and not use any of the other facilities on site. Come and have some pickleball fun at Polmaily House - and it's FREE!

FREE TENNIS! With a break finally in the weather, and just in time for Wimbledon, our tennis court at Polmaily House is now finally finished! The court has been resurfaced and re-painted (still some to finish off) and is now ready for use.
As well as guests staying at the house using the court, we would also like to invite locals to use the court free of charge. If you would like to use the court, then please email us at [email protected] or [email protected] to make the necessary arrangements. You MUST pre-book a time and date with us and not simply turn up. Also, there must be a maximum of 4 players. People using the court must wear appropriate footwear and not let younger children wander around the grounds or use any of the other facilities on site. Sessions will be allocated in one hour blocks. Please bring your own equipment if at all possible. We look forward to seeing you on court! New balls, please!

IT'S BBQ TIME AT POLMAILY HOUSE!
We all love a good barbecue, especially when we are on our holidays and now at Polmaily House, Loch Ness, a great barbecue is guaranteed whatever the weather!
Our new weatherproof pergola covers 2 brand new 6 burner gas barbecues and there is also seating for your whole party with beautiful views of the sunset in the glen.
The use of the bbqs comes at no extra cost to guests and all tools and a food prep area are all also provided. You just need the food, some hungry friends and family and the chef! We even provide the apron.
The area has already proved hugely popular with our guests and it also keeps our kitchen cleaner - a win win!
We do still have one or two dates available this summer if you would like to get your friends and family together for an unforgettable stay in a beautiful and historic country home and show off your sills on the bbq.
