🌿 Common Mistakes When Using Reed Diffusers 🌿

Are you making these common reed diffuser mistakes? Let’s find out!

Reed diffusers are a fantastic way to fragrance your space, but there are some common pitfalls that can limit their effectiveness. Here are a few mistakes to avoid:

1. Over-Flipping the Reeds: While it might seem like flipping the reeds more often would enhance the scent, over-flipping can actually lead to quicker evaporation of the oil. At Hand Poured by Jules, we use fibre reeds that don’t need to be flipped as often as rattan reeds, so I recommend flipping them every 3-4 weeks for our reed diffusers.

2. Placing in Drafty Areas: Avoid putting your reed diffuser in drafty spots, like near windows or air vents. Drafts can cause the oil to evaporate faster, reducing the overall scent throw and effectiveness.

3. Not Using Enough Oil: Ensure your diffuser is filled with enough oil. If the oil level is too low, the reeds won’t absorb and disperse the fragrance properly.

4. Choosing the Wrong Location: Placing the diffuser in a small, enclosed space may limit the scent circulation. Opt for an open area where the fragrance can spread throughout the room.

5. Using Dried Out or Dusty Reeds: Reeds can become clogged over time. If you notice a decrease in scent, consider replacing the reeds to ensure proper absorption of the oil.

6. Placing on or near radiators: Avoid placing your reed diffuser near radiators or other heat sources. Heat can cause the oil to evaporate quickly, reducing the fragrance's longevity and potency.

Every scent has a story. Here’s how my journey began....

I started my candle and home fragrance company back in 2021 during lockdown. It all began as a hobby making wax melts. Starting as a hobby making wax melts it grew from there. Struggling with peri-menopause it was a huge release for me and still is today.

I live in Dunfermline, Scotland, with my husband of nearly 19 years, Bryan. I’m Mum to Michelle, Step Mum to Ross, and Nana to Joshua & Millie.

I love to travel and have been fortunate to visit amazing places, which inspired my career change to set up my own independent travel business in 2024. I’m excited to link both of my passions by creating my new destination range, where each scent will transport you to a special place you've visited.

When I’m not creating dream holidays for my clients, you can find me crafting my Hand Poured by Jules products, dining out, spending time with family and friends, at the gym, or on holiday!
