Next stop on Bute was the amazing Mount Stuart where our extremely knowledgeable and entertaining guide Jim gave us a private tour of the house, which was closed to the general public that day - meant we had the whole house to ourselves! I’ve been to Mount Stuart many times, but the incredible designs and architecture never cease to amaze me! Every pillar, every door hinge, every light switch has got carvings and interesting designs on it. I spot so many new things at every visit 🤩.

Glorious day yesterday for our trip to the Isle of Bute. First stop was at , where Margaret Anne took us on a brilliant tour of the mill - the weaving looms, quality inspection, design department and archives. Bute Fabrics design and produce luxurious fabrics for customers all over the world. This visit was another great treat for textile lovers!

Great trip to Kilmartin yesterday! After Kilmartin Museum (sorry, forgot to take pics) we walked around the nearby prehistoric sites. The visit to Louise Oppenheimer’s weaving studio was one of the retreat highlights, as always. Quick hike up Dunadd Fort to admire the stunning views and walk off some of the cakes 😉.

Now that the sold out 2025 programme is in full swing, I’m delighted to announce that the first two 2026 creative experiences are now open for booking! The new Elemental Skye painting experience on the Isle of Skye with Liz Myhill in March and the hugely popular Fabric of an Island on the Isle of Iona with Janet Melrose.

Several people had pre-registered for Skye and all single occupancy spaces are already taken (some pending deposit payments), but there are still 3 twin room spaces left.

Single room spaces for Iona always fill up quickly too - so make sure you secure yours 🤩.
