There are times where guest stories stop us in our tracks. This beautiful blog was written by a ‘frequent flyer’ guest who has come back to The Oval Dunster for ten years.

In this time, we’ve watched the family grow up and appreciate even more about and the surrounding greater area, including Wimbleball Lake, Porlock Whortleberry Tearoom and more local attractions such as Tessa’s Teashop Dunster and The Foresters Arms!

We’d encourage you to take a look at our online blogs and check out what makes us special. www.ExmoorCharacterCottages.co.uk or

We are currently experiencing phone and wi-fi connection issues. Please if you could bring cash when you come in it would be very helpful.

Also, any chance that anybody booked in for tonight and tomorrow could see this post and be able to get cash we appreciate it. Thank you for understanding!

If you missed Dunster Day in the Tithe Barn last Sunday, we have moved the exhibition to the North Aisle of St Georges Church. It is a fascinating exhibition documenting some of the discoveries the Early Dunster Team from SAHNS has made digging around in people's roofs. Did you know Dunster has one of the largest collection of Medieval Somerset Hall Houses, many of which are cross passage houses. Don't know what that means, then head down to the Church and also the Museum where we have another exhibition on the project. Photographed here is Tony Harding, he is the amazing builder of the model Medieval House in the Museum. We challenged him to a new project to make medieval wood frames that could be pulled apart and rebuilt by kids (or adults) as a new part of our hands on area in the Museum!

In May 1902, a meeting was held in the Church Schoolroom, presided over by Mr. G. F. Luttrell, to decide how Dunster should celebrate King Edward VII’s forthcoming coronation. Preb. 📍 A hospitality business in Minehead and Dunster is recruiting a housekeeper on a flexible basis.

With bookings arriving all the time, we’re looking to expand our flexible team to cover any day of the week including weekends.

Working hours are usually 10am - 4pm and are pre-scheduled on a rota with the rest of the team. Occasionally they are notified at short notice to cover last minute bookings. We’re busiest from July - September, but shifts will usually be available throughout the year.

You’ll be able to work flexibly, with an exceptional level of attention to detail. We’ll pay above local market rates, and you’ll have the satisfaction of working with a great team who are passionate about delivering great holidays for our guests.

The business owner would welcome a conversation about the role.
Please call 07817 698366 or email [email protected] at any time.
