Short Term License granted 🙌
Other than fill in the forms 10 months ago, it was a very straightforward process, just a long wait!
I feel strangely proud of myself 😂

I love running Billy’s Bothy, I’m never happier than when I’m putting a home together, making people feel welcome and special.
I just LOVE the interior of the Bothy, I would really like to live in it myself!

Freshly baked, still warm, really gooey…
Chocolate brownies for guests arriving today - there’s always a warm welcome at Billy’s Bothy.

Guests have usually travelled a fair way to get to the Bothy, negotiating not only single track roads but also, at the moment, lots of sheep and lambs hugging the grass verges. So I think chocolate brownies are a nice touch - just in case the view doesn’t impress 😂

A beautiful Bothy - where the interior totally compliments the stunning surroundings.

I am very picky when I’m choosing my holiday accommodation and I expect a lot. It needs to….

Have a beautiful interior, no plastic, no bling.
Have a wonderful view
Have a bath and walk in shower
Have a nespresso coffee machine
It needs to feel luxurious and smell lovely!

So when I was creating Billy’s Bothy I made sure it had everything I wanted in it - and I really love staying in it.

…it’s quiet this year at Billy’s Bothy.
After a turbulent, sad 12 months within our family we decided to open later, so no guests until May this year.
But, the joy of the Easter message is that there is hope in death, a message the world surely needs to hear and a message that keeps me going through the sad times.

It’s International Women’s Day
So this is me and this is so outside my comfort zone!
I’m trying to convince myself that I’m a woman of worth but after 50+ years I might be flogging a dead horse 😂, but, I love what I do and am very proud of how beautiful Billy’s Bothy is!

A calm sunny morning to mark the start of Spring and it’s very welcome. Winter has, by and large been a bit of a slog this year, however, at least we don’t get mud (oh the mud down South 😱) We spent sometime down in England visiting the children/grandchildren and I have never seen mud like it…
Yes we can get lots of rain and it’s often horizontal but the water seems to just vanish! Just like that! And I’m very happy and relieved about that, so are the dogs, as the daily hose down wasn’t enjoyed one little bit 😂
So best not to forget your wet weather gear when you come to Billy’s Bothy but at least your wellies will go home clean!

There’s a big kid in all of us!
We’ve had snow since Monday, the roads are very quiet. I hadn’t done a big shop since Christmas (big mistake) so now we’re down to crisps and biscuits, chips from the freezer and our last 100ml of milk 😳

Thinking ahead, next year I’m going to keep Billy’s Bothy open for the winter, it’s just too magical to keep to ourselves.
Also, next time there is snow forecast I’ll be less sceptical 😂

Out the back gate and onto the hill…
After 48 hours of wet and windy weather it’s back to the calm of this beautiful autumn we’ve got very used to.

I’ve spent many hours pondering stuff on this rock over the years and I shall never tire of this view.

After a busy Autumn, Skye is now readying itself for winter, which has a beauty of its own. The roads are quiet, the days are short and the evenings are cosy. The wood burners come into their own as does the wet weather gear!
Bookings for next year are open, Billy’s Bothy is a beautiful place to stay with one of the most stunning views in Skye.

Morning walks with the dogs. Straight out of the door and down to the Loch. Despite living in this very beautiful part of the world, (I’m ashamed to say) I sometimes find life tough. Being able to walk here, and sit awhile, breathe and think things through really helps me. It’s calm and peaceful and reminds me that life is good and isn’t always scary.
(When it’s raining and blowing a hoolie it’s not quite the same! 🙄😂).

It’s been rather dreich today (meaning cold and dreary) 🙁 the perfect day to make the Christmas Cake and make the house smell delicious 😋
All that’s left is to feed it with cherry brandy until the big day and then eat it!

With the season slowing down there’s a bit more time to do stuff, however I’m already thinking about next season and how we can make a stay at Billy’s Bothy even better…watch this space.
