I am very proud of what we have achieved at Osdale over the last 5 years and much of that is down to the hard work of Lucy.

She has overseen all the improvements we have made - inside and out, ensures that both cottages are presented at their very best each week and is on hand should you have a problem during your time here.

Visiting Skye’s Sites

Are the Fairy Pools, Old Man of Storr, or Coral Beach a must see on your trip to Skye? These places are popular for good reason, but timing is everything. Visit early in the morning or later in the evening and avoid the crowds.

Of course, there is plenty more to Skye than its famous attractions and we have lots of suggestions for our guests. Even in the height of summer it is easy to find peace and solitude, you just need to know where to look.

Skye’s Sealife

Boat trips offer a front-row seat to the dramatic coast line around the Isle of Skye and some amazing wildlife.

You may be lucky enough to see:

🐬 Dolphins - they are a special sight, especially if they play in the boat’s wake.
🦭 Seals – lounging on the rocks or heads bobbing in the sea, keeping a close eye.
🦅 Eagles - Sea Eagles are more likely than Golden Eagles, soaring above the cliffs.
🐳 Whales - occasionally you may see minke whales or even orcas
🦦 Otters - found along quieter shorelines
🐧 Puffins – nesting on cliffs and islands, you can’t help smiling if you spot them
🐟 Porpoises - relatives of dolphins, quieter and often on their own or in pairs
🕊️ Gannets - they would definitely win an Olympic gold for their diving!

If you’re a keen photographer, a nature enthusiast, or simply want to see Skye from another perspective, you’ll love a boat trip.

A special place

As you make your way up the Osdale track you can't help but be awed by Macleod's Tables. They provide the perfect backdrop to this highland retreat.

The location is stunning - utterly peaceful with far-reaching views spanning from Dunvegan over towards the Cuillin. Your only neighbours are the grazing sheep, occasional cattle and our other cottage 80 metres away.

Skye’s Natural Larder

We are lucky to have many local food producers on Skye. From local lobster to beef, sea salt to Scottish tablet it’s all there to be discovered.

As a visitor to the island it can be hard to tap into the local knowledge you need to find these things. That’s why we include local producers in our digital guidebook.

You can pick up lobster straight from the boat, enjoy salad leaves grown a few miles from Osdale or select a sweet treat from one of Skye’s honesty boxes.

And at Osdale you have a fully equipped kitchen to cook up a feast. There’s no skimping on the kitchen equipment here.

The twitching nose! Goose enjoyed this short walk alongside Osdale Burn and loved splashing around in the water. It’s the start of the walk to Macleod’s Table North but we didn’t get that far. It was tempting to keep going but weeding at Osdale was on the to do list. Goose loves the variety of walks on offer here in Skye - hills, mountains, lochs, beaches, woods and moorland. We welcome up to three dogs in each cottage at Osdale.
