We are pleased to confirm that Raby Castle remains open following the announcement of regional restrictions for the North East of England and our visitors can continue to enjoy our extensive outdoor spaces. The Castle is also open for pre-booked visits only (social distancing measures are in place).

We are following the latest government guidance which means you will notice a few changes to ensure that all visitors have a safe and enjoyable experience when visiting us.

Our Refreshment Kiosk will be open daily from 10am and will offer a limited takeaway grab and go menu as well as a selection of cakes, snacks, and drinks. All food and drink at Raby Castle is served in disposable containers at this time.

Please be aware that our outdoor seating areas are closed in line with the latest government guidance. You are welcome to bring a picnic blanket and enjoy your own food and takeaway food and drink from our Kiosk in the Deer Park, where there is plenty of space to find a peaceful spot and enjoy the views.

We were among the first to receive the Good to Go certification from Visit England in recognition of the measures we have taken to meet government and industry COVID-19 guidelines, and we continue to uphold these high standards to keep our visitors, staff and volunteers safe.

Wondering what times we open? Whether you need to wear a mask? If you can bring your dog? Here are some of our most frequently asked questions answered. (Thank you to regular visitor Peter Gunton for this lovely photo of the Castle).

Do I need to wear a mask when I visit?

In line with the latest government guidance, from Friday 24th July customers must wear a face mask in the Stables shop and whilst ordering in the Stables café. Face masks can be removed in the Stables café when customers are seated.
Face masks do not need to be worn in the Castle, however you are welcome to wear a facemask if you wish.

What’s open and what are your opening times?

The Deer Park, Walled Gardens and Woodland Play Area at Raby Castle are open daily from 10am – 4pm.
The Castle is open Wednesday – Sunday from 11am – 4pm. Tickets are limited and must be pre-booked online.
The Refreshment Kiosk is open daily, and the Stables Café will open during busier periods.

Do I need to book to visit?

You will need to purchase a ticket to visit Raby Castle, Park and Gardens. To help us manage the number of visitors on site, and to limit contact with staff, we would prefer visitors to book tickets for the day of their visit before they arrive.

Are the toilets open?

Reduced toilet facilities, including disabled toilets and baby change facilities, are open. Measures have been put in place to limit the number of visitors accessing the toilets at any time. Please use the hand sanitiser provided and queue at a safe distance from others.
Please note there are no toilet facilities for visitors in the Castle at this time.

Can I bring my dog?

Well behaved dogs are welcome in the Park and Gardens at Raby Castle. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times.
