It’s been a tough secret to keep but we can finally let you all know that owner chef Ben Palmer will be appearing on BBC’s Great British Menu this year! Having watched GBM for years, he is delighted to have been able to compete in this year’s competition! Repping the South West (of course) and cooking up a storm, alongside some very special chef mates. You can tune in on Tuesday at 8pm, BBC2 to watch Ben and the guys battle it out in a VERY exciting journey!

Can you help us with some market research? For some years, we have been thinking about changing the changeover routine at TEGLIOS.

If you have a minute to read on and would like to vote, just comment with a YES or NO to let us know your thoughts. …

Our own experience is fighting with the rest of the world travelling to Cornwall (and Devon, Somerset etc) on a Saturday afternoon and arriving at TEGLIOS after 3pm by which time the weekend is half over. Inviting friends down for the weekend doesn’t work either!!

Then, a week later having to clear up, get the kids organised and be out by 10am to fight the traffic again and arrive home with half the weekend gone again … we find this quite frustrating.

So this is the potential alternative …

Changeover day: Friday
Arrival: 6pm or after
Departure: 12pm or before

This would enable working folks to do a full day at work on the Friday, nip home, pack the car (and children) and set off for TEGLIOS. On arrival you have the whole weekend in front of you and friends can join for a full weekend (if you so choose).

On the way home, a more leisurely start to the day, less traffic and a whole weekend to recover before heading back to work on Monday.

If the majority of you think this is a better option than the current situation, we can implement the change from January 2025 (I know it feels like a long way away but TEGLIOS is 60% booked for 2024 already!!!).

Thanks for your help … we are always looking for ways to improve the TEGLIOS experience.

A lovely new find in Looe - staggering distance from TEGLIOS. The Fish Market (next to the Harbour Office on east looe quay) - amazing tapas and wines.

Amazing service from a lovely local girl. We booked Kirsty at TEGLIOS for Saturday & Sunday evenings to sit for our friends’ 3 children so the “grown-ups” could enjoy papa Ninos and the sardine factory.

Great with the children (7, 4 & 3) and all alive on our return … on both nights 😀

I suspect she will be booked well in advance now so if you are visiting and fancy a night off … just let her know you are staying at TEGLIOS (she promised us priority)

Hi, I'm Kirsty- an animal lover, yogi and fitness fanatic. I have been a Looe girl for the most of my 30 years and currently live in Pelynt, just outside of Looe. Since graduating with BA Hons Primary Education, I have worked in nurseries, nannying and currently work for a local children's charity. All have been so rewarding in many ways and made me realise I want to further my career. So, I've recently successfully gained a place on a one year teacher training course which begins in Sept. However, this is unpaid and the maintenance loan barely covers day to day living. I was recently recccomended to babysit for a family on holiday and this is where Sitter by the Sea was born. Amazing news. I spent many hours as a kid out in looe bay fishing with my Gramps & Dad.

New for 2022, after what must be 20 years, Looe will once again have self-drive boats operating on the river.

‘Looe Self Drive Boat Hire’ will operate from the RNLI slipway in East Looe.

Each boat can accommodate up to five and an hour’s rental will be £35….more details soon!
