Our volunteers make a real difference, helping to develop the infrastructure of our partner schools and engaging students with their lessons.
But they also encourage students to attend school. Our partner schools have reported a higher attendance rate when our volunteers are there.
The new permanent classroom for grade 3 students at West End has been tiled, and desks have been added!
It has been a team effort with many groups contributing to this project, and it’s fantastic to see the progress made during each trip.
Over the summer, our volunteers have provided thousands of extra meals to students at our partner schools by throwing farewell celebration meals 🍛 ❤️

Our great team of volunteers who have been working on the library construction project at Aklorbordzi School 📚 🧱 🛠️
This summer ☀️, volunteers have been working on the kitchen construction project at Jubilee Academy.
Previously, the cook had to prepare the students' breakfast and lunch 🍛 in a small tin structure with limited space.
Alongside the addition of the new permanent classrooms and the new toilet block, the bigger kitchen will allow Jubilee to increase the number of students that can attend their school 🎓
Thank you to everyone who has played a part in developing key infrastructure at Jubilee Academy, giving more children access to a free education.
Our volunteers have been getting their hands dirty, planting 80 tree seedlings 🌱 at Prisons Primary School.
The Walk Centre said goodbye to Chichester College Group for another year at the weekend 👋
This year was CCG’s 14th year volunteering with us, and they bought their biggest group to date!
The group has volunteered at three of our partner schools this summer, working hard to lay new concrete floors, renovate classrooms, run sports days, and teach lessons.
It's incredible to see this group's progress and enthusiasm; we can’t wait to see some of you again next year! 🇰🇪 ✈️

Concrete is being mixed, and blocks are being laid as the library construction project continues at Aklorbordzi School with the help of our volunteers.
The new toilet block at Mercy Njeri Primary School has been completed with a coat of paint by our volunteers to protect it from the elements.
The toilet block has provided 600 students with safer and more hygienic sanitation facilities.
St Trizah students received a treat each morning when our volunteers returned, a packet of biscuits 🍪

Thank you to our volunteers who kindly donated a range of textbooks, notepads, and pens to Ungana Academy. This key equipment is a necessity for all students but not always affordable for them and their families.

Volunteers have been building new pillars at St Trizah to support the expansion of the verandas outside the classroom.
The new verandas will allow the school to collect rainwater and provide shade for the students.

A warm welcome from West End Academy 🇰🇪
In Ghana 🇬🇭, we work in the rural Volta region, where the main industries are agriculture and fishing. Many children work from a young age in these industries to help support their families and miss out on attending school, so we work with schools to encourage more children to start from an earlier age and stay in education longer.
By volunteering in Ghana, you will be contributing to real change in a developing community and helping provide more children with a quality education and better opportunities 🎓
Volunteers are helping to create a welcoming learning environment by adding murals to the new perimeter wall, which was completed earlier this year at Ungana Academy.
Before heading home, volunteers got to hand feed the Rothschild Giraffes at the Nairobi Giraffe Centre 🦒🦒🦒

Derby Trailblazers ended a day of volunteering with a game of basketball 🏀 at Menengai High School. Being part of a basketball team is more than just the time spent on the pitch - it encourages students to attend school and teaches them valuable life skills that can be used in and outside of the classroom.

A message from students at Mercy Njeri School who attended the opening ceremony of the new toilet block. The toilet block, built with a grant given to African Adventures Foundation, has provided 600 students with safer and more hygienic sanitation facilities.
Fuoni School, Kijito School, and Kinuni School welcomed BBC News Africa to Zanzibar 🇹🇿 to cover our transformative WASH Programme 💧, which was completed last year. Through this programme, more than 16,000 children have deepened their understanding of good hygiene and menstrual health management and have access to good sanitation facilities and reusable sanitary pads, reducing absence from school.
Yesterday, we welcomed Imani, our Senior Trip Host for Zanzibar, to the UK Office. It was great to see him and talk all things Zanzibar! 🇹🇿 🌊 ☀️ For all our volunteers travelling to the idyllic island this year, here is a message for you from Imani.
Dan Mew, African Adventures’ Director, attended the opening ceremony of the new toilet block at Dornorgbor School and spoke to Dominic, The District Director of Education, to find out what impact the new sanitation facilities will have on the students. The next phase at Dornorgbor is to roll out educational workshops, which will improve students’ knowledge and understanding of good hygiene and menstrual health management and each girl will receive a trashy bag with underwear, hand sanitiser and a three months supply of sanitary pads.
