The temperature has truly dropped here in the Peak District and we’re all set for the first snow of the season ❄️☃️

We think this scenic snap of the pretty village of Stanton in the Peak by Peaklass belongs on a picture-postcard! 🎄

Never tire of this view and the wonder of the landscape. .
See below for more useful info 👇🏼 .

The intriguing subterranean world of the Devil’s Arse awaits. Our professional guides will walk you through the system, re telling the history of the Peak Cavern rope makers. An hour long tour, witnessing how rope was made for lead miners and the fascinating folklore of the Victorian tour guides. Find out how and why the cave got its unusual name.

Summer season tours are daily on the hour.

The first tour starts at 10am, the last tour starts at 4pm. Book online to guarantee a tour time to suit you. (link in bio)

Tours last approx 60-75mins

Tours start on time. Allow plenty of time to travel and park in Castleton. Especially so at weekends and school hols. If you miss your tour, we cannot guarantee transferring you to a later tour that day. There will be no refunds.

Well behaved dogs are welcome on a short lead.

We are not connected to a water mains supply, so we have no toilet facilities at the cavern.
The tour is fairly undemanding on foot. There are a few steps with hand rails. Nothing too steep. The floor can be wet and uneven in places. The temperature is a chilly 7°c inside the cave. We have one small 50m section of cave where you will need to bend over to navigate through. Unfortunately wheelchairs and pushchairs can’t be taken beyond the cavern entrance. We are happy to advise you. Please call the cavern if you have any questions.

The Peak District village of Castleton is full of little narrow lanes lined with old stone cottages, and around every corner you can chance upon scenes that look suspended in time, as if they haven't changed much for centuries. This is the steep hill leading down to Peak Cavern, the entrance to which you can just see on the left behind the houses. - Suzanne

🤓 Peak Geek fact ahoy: Until as recently as 1915, Peak Cavern was the home of the last cave-dwellers in the UK. A group of rope-makers lived inside the mouth of the cave and sold their wares to villagers. Unlike other caverns in Castleton, which were formed by mining, Peak Cavern is almost entirely natural. It’s also the largest cave system in the Peak District.

Springtime at the spire 🌼☀️ Here’s Chesterfield’s iconic Crooked Spire church looking simply stunning in the sunshine👌

According to local legend, the 228-foot hire spire twisted in medieval times when a local blacksmith made a poor job of shoeing the Devil’s hooves, causing him to lash out in agony over the church 😮

Have you spotted this famous Derbyshire landmark before?
