Tonight is the night Scots all over the world gather to remember their national poet Robert Burns (1759-1796) - sing his songs, recite his poems, eat the haggis and drink their whisky :-) Happy Birthday, Rabbie!

As 2024 draws to a close I am reminded that there really is no place like Scotland to bring in the New Year. From first footing to black bun, calendars hung to face the wall before being turned around at midnight, windows opened to let the new year in and the auld yin oot, pots of home made soup on the stove to shortbread, lumps of coal and whisky it is laced with tradition and nostalgia linked to the joy of past get togethers with friends and family and fond memories of those who are no longer with us. But be sure the world over it's a Scots song they'll all be singing. Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy and successful 2025!
