The Thistle

Nemo me impune lacessit - no one shall touch me with impunity.

A long lasting symbol of Scotland. Positive connotations are attached to the flower in Celtic nations, and it is seen as a sign of resiliency, strength, resolve, protection, and pride.

Did you know...?

The monarchy retain the right of ownership for all unmarked mute swans in open UK mainland waters.

As it is, King Charles III only applies ownership to some stretches around the River Thames and it's tributaries.

And although they may be called 'Mute' swans, they are anything but quiet. They can trumpet quite loudly, and are quite defensive when it comes to their mate, young and territory.

Late start from South Queensferry, coast road through East Lothian, returning inland past castles, Edinburgh and back again.
