Did you know...?

The monarchy retain the right of ownership for all unmarked mute swans in open UK mainland waters.

As it is, King Charles III only applies ownership to some stretches around the River Thames and it's tributaries.

And although they may be called 'Mute' swans, they are anything but quiet. They can trumpet quite loudly, and are quite defensive when it comes to their mate, young and territory.
