Inchcolm Island is now closed. It has been a fabulous season taking the thousands of customers to visit the Iona of the East. It has also been a pleasure working in partnership with Historic Scotland to bring you this amazing visitor attraction.

The abbots house is the first building you meet when you land. It has been suggested that it was an infirmary for the old and sick canons, or where every canon went to be bled by leeches. More likely, it was a private house for the abbot. Inchcolm served as a quarantine station for ships stricken by plague in the 1600s. In the 1790s a hospital was established on the island to serve the Russian fleet moored in the Forth.
