Low season in the Caribbean is a great time to travel to the Domincan Republic, because the masses flock to Europe and therefore there is more availability to discover hidden gems. Although considered the “hurricane season” the DR due to its mountainous landscape is well protected from these and at most you will get rain on some days, which can be quite refreshing.

The sea calms down during the summer and makes it for a great way to see some hidden beaches which are normally hard to access, and this is also a great time to visit the Jarabacoa region which is the equivalent to our local alps and perfect for white water rafting and canyoning as well as some hikes in beautiful greenery. Last but not least the rates and availability are super attractive, so even for those that want to fly and flop, then the luxury hotels always have very special offers.
