Meet ‘The Kelpies’, the world’s largest horse sculptures! 🏴🐴
But first, what exactly is a “Kelpie”?
In Scottish mythology, kelpies are magical water spirits that often appear as horses. They are known to inhabit rivers and lochs, luring unsuspecting travellers to ride on their backs. Once mounted, the kelpie’s skin becomes adhesive, trapping the rider who is then dragged into the water to meet a watery end. Phew… 😣

Fun facts about the mighty HOGWARTS EXPRESS ✨
🚂 The train's exterior shots were filmed using the real-life Jacobite Steam Train here in Scotland. You can even ride on the train as an optional add-on on some of our tours!
🚉 The fictional train departs from Platform 9¾ six times per year, without fail at 11 o'clock in the morning, arriving at Hogsmeade station in the early evening.
🧹 Before the Hogwarts Express was built by the Ministry of Magic, students arrived at school through broomsticks, enchanted carts, or even magical creatures.
🕰️ The fictional Hogwarts Express has been chugging along since 1830, making it more than 190 years old!
🐸 The trolley aboard offers an array of magical treats, from chocolate frogs that jump to life, to pumpkin pasties that warm your belly.
🧙♂️ The train is unplottable and Muggle-repelling. It's hidden from non-magical eyes, ensuring Hogwarts remains a well-kept secret!

A classroom for our founding language 😍🏴
As part of our 6 Day Wild Skye Volunteer Adventure, our passengers had the chance to try their tongue and speak like a local Scot during an amazing Gaelic tutoring session at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, the only centre of Higher and Further Education in the world that has programmes entirely in Gaelic 🤯
We dived into the roots of this beautiful and other-worldly-sounding language, and learned about the history behind Sabhal Mòr Ostaig and its library.
Jennie was our awesome teacher. She introduced us into the Gaelic alphabet, taught us how to introduce ourselves, exchange greetings in different situations, and even sing a Gaelic song.
Thanks a bunch for having us. It definitely was one of the highlights during our time on the Sleat Peninsula ❤️
