This week Kat and Gill refreshed their Costa Rica knowledge at a trade event led by a range of Costa Rican partners, who travelled to Edinburgh to remind us why Costa Rica is a winning destination! ... not that we needed much convincing!

We met so many lovely people and got to know fabulous properties in this eco-tourism focussed country... time to put all our knowledge into practice!

Leanne had a fabulous time in Patagonia - she certainly got lucky with the weather. She made our day in the office when she sent in this great feedback and some gorgeous photos.

"My trip was incredible!!

I’ve been meaning to message you to say a massive thankyou. Everything organised by Andean Trails ran extremely smoothly with no issues. I wasn’t sure where to pick up one of my bus tickets and contacted the local office directly on WhatsApp and they dropped the bus ticket off directly to my hotel!

All the hotels you selected and the day tours were of a high standard.

I actually met a guy in Santiago who had also used Andean Trails to organise some of his trip and he was also impressed.
... if I had to choose any highlights it was the Perito Moreno Glacier trip and W trek both of which you organised. I would rate everything highly and wouldn’t do anything different next time.

I chose the places I did because they were places I wanted to visit following my first trip to South America in 2002.

And I chose Andean Trails because I wanted to organise everything in advance with a UK company, given I had time pressures for my trip. After contacting 3 different companies, you were the most reasonably priced with availability for the W trek on the dates I wanted. Also when you called you were friendly and communicative throughout the planning process.

I would use Andean Trails again if I ever return to South America. "

Bev and Stephen continued their journey through Chile with the self-guided Paine W. They sent us some beautiful photos from the trek.

This 5 or 6 day trek is best between October and April, with options for camping (all set up for you) or refuges (small dorm rooms), all meals provided.

Our South American friends and colleagues are celebrating All Souls Day over the next couple of days.

Celebrated differently in different parts of South America, here's a tradition popular in the Andean regions: the Guaga de Pan or T'anta Wawa in Quechua - Bread Babies.

They are usually washed down with a delicious glass of Colada Morada - a sweet drink based on corn and other ingredients.

Stephen and Bev have been having a superb trip through Chile, from guided day tours in the Atacama desert of the north, a self-drive through the wine regions, some active adventures with rafting in the Chilean lakes and are now facing some less good weather for their trekking in Torres del Paine.

Bev has sent some of thier fab photos and has let us know:
"I have been really impressed with all our arrangements, Kathy. You have done a brilliant job!! Thank you. Great choice of hotels. All the public transport has run on time"

She did add "The winds at Las Torres were gusting over 120kph. We were both blown over, flat on our faces!"

But, despite the notorious Patagonia wind, they made it to the base of the towers and tomorrow head off to Cuernos, on the self-guided Paine W.
