I do love a fancy flower bike! 💛🩷🌼🌺

From castles and clans to archaeology and ancestry, Scotland's cultural heritage is rich and varied, and I'd love to help you experience it. As well as being a Blue Badge guide, I have a PhD in Scottish history and a background in higher education, historical research and cultural heritage. So, whether you're interested in ancient archaeology, Wallace and Bruce, kings and queens, religious history
/ Reformation, witches, Covenanters, Jacobites, the Enlightenment, industrial heritage or many of the other fascinating aspects of Scottish history, I'm in a pretty decent position to (at least try to!) answer your questions. Along the way, we can uncover so much more that Scotland has to offer: we can explore quirky customs, ceremonies, folklore and superstitions; feast on superb Scottish produce; embark on a whisky or gin trail; spot spectacular wildlife; bask in breathtaking scenery; visit film and literary locations (yes - definitely Outlander!); and photograph iconic landscapes, buildings and architecture. Allow me to help you make the most of your trip. :-)

Quick stop was the perfect way to begin the long journey south today. No photos of the delicious blueberry cookies and other goodies as they were all scoffed too quickly!
DISCLAIMER: It’s not always gorgeous weather on Skye… but it was today! 💛🩵💚
It’s been a braw day to head down the Great Glen and over to Skye. Wondered where all the people were at Fort Augustus then saw they were all headed onto the boat!
Love getting the chance to take folk to .🩵
No jaunt around the Borders would be complete without a visit to Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott, especially at this time of year when the gardens are looking so fine. 🌺
A few from the wonderful Library of Innerpeffray. A must if you ♥️📚
Had a lovely wander around Ardchattan Priory, with not another soul around.
A slow daunder off the beaten track today was 💯% worth it. ♥️
Enjoying Perthshire this morning, at Dunkeld and . Loads of history and great Jacobite stories.
Enjoyable visit to Souter Johnnie’s Cottage last week. The real John Davidson, a shoemaker, was of course a great inspiration for Robert Burns and is immortalised in his epic poem Tam o’ Shanter.

Sunny day today for a wee jaunt around the Forth Bridge The Kelpies Stirling Castle and Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park☀️
First stop of the day was Sorn Kirk, which was built in 1658. The graveyard is full of interesting stones and monuments but the most unusual thing was the old jougs hanging from the church wall. People could be punished by being placed in the jougs, a hinged iron collar, for a variety of reasons. In 1698 one Jean McLatchie was placed in these jougs from the ringing of the first bell to the ringing of the third, for ‘profanation of the Sabbath.’
A few from the recent tour to Shetland 😍
Gorgeous day for a visit to Culzean Castle. That approach is always a winner!

The on a beautiful Spring day. Such a fascinating wee landscape in miniature. I mean, if the fairies were going to live anywhere… 😍
The most famous building in golf? The recently refurbished R&A Clubhouse at St Andrews. Shortly after this we had hail!
Met this handsome beast last week 🐑
The fields are starting to fill up with all the newborn lambs and it’s a joy to behold, especially when they gambol about and play with their wee pals. 🤗 Inevitably more sheep pics to follow!
Sometimes just sitting and watching the weather is the best way to spend an hour! 🌈
The crocuses are out in but the rain sent us inside for tea, cake and a blether. There are definitely worse ways to spend a dreich afternoon! 🫶🏼☕️🍰
An almost compulsory stop in on the way to this weekend, to grab a haul of traditional sweets.
Moffat Toffee sweet shop was always on the itinerary when we were en route to visit family in South Yorkshire - to take them a wee bit of Scottish nostalgia. 🍬
Delicious spur-of-the-mo lunch earlier. Thankful they could fit us in.
The lovely 😍
Moodier today at Beauly Priory.
What a difference a day makes! From torrential rain and flooding yesterday, we have blue skies todays at Dunrobin Castle
Autumnal welcome 🧡🎃

🐬Incredible escort on our way from Jura to Oban last week… a pod of Bottlenose dolphins who leaped and played in the wake of the boats. 😍
