Archers Meadow Glamping site Ellesmere has joined the RSPB Great Bird Watch. So next weekend we will spend an hour watching and counting the bird life on our site. We'll post next week to tell you what we saw.

Having made an effort over the last few years to live more sustainably, we have seen the bird life ( and indeed wildlife) increase around us. So it will be interesting to count our feathered friends.

Erddig - House of All Seasons

Erddig hosts many events throughout the year. It's a National Trust gem. The last Squire Philip Yorke donated the house complete with its contents in 1976. After a major restoration project, it was opened in 1977.

The gardens are listed with their pleached limes being a feature.

There are events all year round at Erddig - Hunts, trails, Nordic walking, Applefest Christmas and in summer the gardens host open-air theatres and cinema.

Watch this space as events will be keeping an eye on future events and posting them here. Truly well worth a visit.

Keen cyclist, triathlete or just love your bike to get out and about? Shropshire has it covered!

Definitely more people using bikes on holiday, be that to get around in an eco-friendly way or to keep fit. Archers Meadow is a mile out of town so a convenient way to get around.

The Land’s End to John o’Groats ‘End-to-End’ bicycle route in the ‘Bike Britain’ cycle guide book goes past the end of our farm drive, so that is one reason to stay though not many cycle that far!

National Cycle Network Route 455 linking Oswestry to Whitchurch runs nearby.

There are also local cycle routes of different lengths if you just want to enjoy the local Shropshire countryside.

Ellesmere has a bike hire shop A Mere Cycles so you don't even have to bring your own!

New Glamping Site - just opened !

Having run Birch Hill Farm – an award-winning 5-van caravan site for over 17 years, we diversified in 2019 to add luxury glamping pods – away from the caravans – yet still enjoying the same panoramic views that our regular guests return to share year after year.

Our dog-friendly, self-catering pods are furnished to a high standard with under-floor heating making them cosy all year round. Please see - https://www.archersmeadow.co.uk/

Each pod has a comfy sofa and a double bed (a single guest bed can be added to accommodate a third person), television, shower room and a small kitchen area equipped with a fridge and microwave. Outside has decking and a lawned area with a fire pit for a barbeque.

Whilst offering the opportunity to ‘get away from it all’, the reality of modern life is that connectivity is important, so each glamping pod has a Freeview TV and free Wi-Fi internet connection. Our broadband is at ‘rural speed’, so we’ve hard-wired the ethernet cable all the way to each pod to get the best available signal.
