Wonderful day out today in Dorothy Clive Gardens - just about 40 minutes from Archers Meadow. Weather was glorious and the gardens were just magnificent - so well kept and the borders brimming with colour and glorious scent. Its a hidden gem and a real mix parkland borders rose garden, Laburnum arch (though missed its glory as too late) woodland walks waterfall - too much variety to mention. Thoroughly recommend!

Ian and I had a lovely day at Powis Castle National Trust today. Weather was glorious, the castle was magnificent and the gardens were beautiful, so immaculately kept. The peacocks' colouring was amazing and the penhen had her two chicks with her. Definitely, we can recommend a visit when staying at Archers Meadow!

The Locks at Frankton - a favourite walk of ours. Its at the junction of the Montgomery and Llangollen Canals.
Watching the boats go up and down when the locks open is fascinating.
When the locks are closed it is a lovely peaceful walk with few people around so you can enjoy the wildlife.

Lovely afternoon exploring Moreton Corbet Castle with the dogs. Looked after by English Heritage. It's about a 1/2 drive from Archers Meadow. Managed a geocache on the way home too!

If you go down to the woods tonight you won't be alone -a wildlife enthusiasts' paradise. Long after the crowd of day has gone - the birds come out, singing at the tops of their voices, as beautiful as the dawn chorus, to serenade the evening walkers. We met moth researchers, who every Friday night look for the types of moth the mere provides a habitat. A few photos from lovely evening walk tonight. Oh and a PS we managed to find 4 geocaches nearby. Lots to do on a lovely evening stroll in Ellesmere

As well as running glamping site In the lakelands of Shropshire, I volunteer my time as a church bellringer. This evening we rang the bells as part of the National D-Day commemoration events. One the privileges of being a bellringer in Ellesmere is being able to watch the lighting of the D-Day beacon from the roof of the church tower, amid birdsong and views across Shopshire Cheshire and North Wales.

New Glamping Site - just opened !

Having run Birch Hill Farm – an award-winning 5-van caravan site for over 17 years, we diversified in 2019 to add luxury glamping pods – away from the caravans – yet still enjoying the same panoramic views that our regular guests return to share year after year.

Our dog-friendly, self-catering pods are furnished to a high standard with under-floor heating making them cosy all year round. Please see - https://www.archersmeadow.co.uk/

Each pod has a comfy sofa and a double bed (a single guest bed can be added to accommodate a third person), television, shower room and a small kitchen area equipped with a fridge and microwave. Outside has decking and a lawned area with a fire pit for a barbeque.

Whilst offering the opportunity to ‘get away from it all’, the reality of modern life is that connectivity is important, so each glamping pod has a Freeview TV and free Wi-Fi internet connection. Our broadband is at ‘rural speed’, so we’ve hard-wired the ethernet cable all the way to each pod to get the best available signal.
