2024 Season Entertainment updates!

Welcome back, we have loads of new things to tell you about what is happening in the entertainment department. Our new teams will be ready to entertain you on Friday 9th February at Oakdene Forest Park.
At Oakdene the entertainments team will be led by Amel Hegarty, who has been promoted after working at Oakdene for the last 3 years, she will be joined by, Lauren, Cha, Sally and Evelyn.

Along with the new teams we are introducing new daytime activities and evening entertainment including, Line Dancing Classes, Build a Squishie, Get Creative, Adult Pottery and in the evening, we have Linked Quizzes where both Shorefield and Oakdene can battle it out to find the brainiest park!

Talent competition for the children will be held over Easter, May Half Term and the Summer Holidays to have a chance to win a place in our Finals at Shorefield Country park that will be held the weekend of Friday 15th November. We are moving our Bingo timings; tickets will be on sale from 5:30pm and eyes down at 6pm.

We have changed and updated our booking system so you can now go online and book all your different types of activities all at once.

🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨
Martin Kemp Weekend is coming to OAKDENE for the 22nd/23rd/and 24th of November this year.

Book your stay now!!!

Tickets for the event are external and go on general sale from the 1st of March at £49 pp plus booking fee.

The line-up includes the DeLorean’s acoustic set in the Acorn Bar on the Friday, followed by an 80s Soul DJ set before Martin Kemps back to the 80’s DJ SET.

On the Saturday we have support from the fantastic 80’s and 90’ party band The Audio Allstars followed by an 80’s DJ set before our Saturday headliner Andrew Browning. Andrew is the UKs leading George Michael tribute and will be performing all his and Wham’s hits with his full band and backing vocalists.
Wind down the Sunday with a lunchtime DJ set full of 80s classic tunes.

Christmas Eve in Ringwood is a lovely special event with the town gathering in the market place for carol singing and Santa comes on his sleigh driven by heavy horses and we donate presents to Santa for the less fortunate .

This year we will back again with Father Christmas in the Market place on his sleigh receiving presents from the children to give to others not so fortunate.

In the amazing New Forest..😀

🐷 Pannage season officially starts today (11 Sept), so you may start to see pigs out in the New Forest.

Pannage sees commoners practise their 'right of mast' by turning pigs out each autumn for a few weeks. The pigs hoover up fallen acorns which are poisonous to ponies and cattle.

As with all Forest livestock, please pass wide and slow, and thank you for not touching, approaching or feeding the pigs.

Oakdene Forest Park

As part of the ongoing maintenance of the underground electrical system our external contractors, Hawkins Electrical will be undertaking testing for approximately 3 weeks commencing on Monday 4th September.

Whilst we do our best to keep power disruptions to a minimum during this period, there is the remote possibility of some momentary electrical outages locally, during this period.

In the unlikely event that you experience any prolonged electrical outages during the period of testing, please notify our Reception Team as usual and we will do our best to address these promptly.

🌊 Stay Safe at the Beach! 🏖️

Did you know? Spotting a rip current can save your life! Let's spread the word to keep everyone safe at the beach. Here's what you need to know:

📍 Rip currents often form in places that appear calm and inviting, fooling even experienced beachgoers.

🌊 When you don't see waves rolling in, it's a warning sign. The water might look easy and safe to enter, but it's actually where the rip current is pulling back OUT to sea.

🙅‍♂️ Never enter the sea in these areas. Educate yourself and others about the dangers of rip currents. Share this important message with friends and family!

⚠️ If you find yourself caught in a rip current:

1️⃣ Stay calm and don't panic. It's essential to keep a clear head.

2️⃣ Remember, you'll know you're caught in a rip current if you suddenly find yourself being pulled away from shore, and swimming against it becomes impossible.

3️⃣ Instead of fighting the current, swim ACROSS it! Swim parallel to the beach, not against it. This way, you can break free from its grip and make your way back to safety.

4️⃣ Once you're out of the rip current, swim ashore at an angle, towards the shore. Avoid swimming directly back to where you entered the water.
