A quick note to say how sorry we were not to be able to open our doors for the vineyard market on Saturday or attend at St Mary's on Sunday. Storm Darragh played havoc with us on numerous fronts and we're still on clear-up duty! However, if you wanted to order any Christmas wine, the trees have been cleared, and we will happily get deliveries out.

A quick note to say how sorry we were not to be able to open our doors for the vineyard market on Saturday or attend at St Mary's on Sunday. Storm Darragh played havoc with us on numerous fronts and we're still on clear-up duty! However, if you wanted to order any Christmas wine, the trees have been cleared and we will happily get deliveries out.

* New - Limited Edition Chardonnay*

2023 was an amazing growing year. As harvest approached, we realised we had a great crop of Chardonnay on our hands and that the weather meant we could leave it hanging. And so we made the decision to make a limited release 100% still Chardonnay.

On 18th October, we hand-picked the best grapes from the sunniest rows of our Chardonnay (Clone 95). The grapes were gently whole-bunch pressed before being moved into a single 1200l steel tank, where fermentation and malolatic fermentation occurred.

After 4 months of lees ageing, the wine was moved into 4x used French barrels for a further 6 months before bottling under gravity.

There are just 1500 bottles of this wine, and you'll know which one you're drinking as we've printed it on the label.

This pale-gold wine is balanced and lively, with citrus and vanilla on the nose and apple, white peach and lemon peel across the palate.

And that's a wrap. Harvest 2024 completed yesterday in the Chardonnay. It's been a bit bonkers, to be honest, an ever-shifting sea of decision-making. Hats off to Ben, who has put an absolute shift in across the year to nurture the vines. And to Molly and Tim for the 1000s of hours of graft. Let the wine making commence. 💫

Our volunteer harvest is tomorrow and it's the big one (chardonnay). If you have a few hours to spare, come along to the vineyard and join us. Harvest lunch provided (and wine, of course).

We'll start at 8.30 and go all day, but volunteers can dip in (and out!) at any time.

No experience needed.
We have secateurs.
Sturdy footwear a must.
A stalwart approach to really bad jokes from our vineyard manager, Tim, recommended.

The three year project to create a self-guided tour fact sheet rumbles on with pretty but ineffectual map imagery entering the fray today. Creative clarting about has now given way to dropping the electric fence that's supposed to be protecting the Seigrebbe from the badgers (jury is out), and inching forward with the new Chardonnay label while moving bottles of said wine from one store to another. I reckon we'll start picking this week, and so the fact sheet will slide effortlessly into 2025 jobs. Oh well.

It's lateral shoot season - that time of year when the vines decide to grow sideways. This Pinot Meunier has been shoot selected, tucked in, and trimmed already this season, but, as you can see from the first pic, was getting a bit hairy. Order is now restored. Spare a thought for the many vineyard teams who are working their socks off to maintain the healthy structure of the rows - there'd be no wine if they didn't. 🥂
