Wondrous things can happen at any moment on a polar voyage.

In Antarctica, everyone may suddenly rush to the deck to see a pod of humpback whales leaping and twisting amidst the ice floes. Or in the Arctic, a lone male polar bear can approach across the pack ice and pad gently alongside the boat, sniffing at the air with immense curiosity.

India is best avoided during the monsoon months of May to September, right?

Actually, it's Himalayan province of Ladakh lies beyond the reach of the rains and is at its very best during these summer months.

An Evening with Paul Goldstein

We're delighted to welcome back to Exeter once again wildlife guide and photographer Paul Goldstein.

A photographic journey to the South Atlantic and beyond. Paul will be showcasing images from all over the world too as well as the seventh continent: his beloved Masai Mara, tigers, jaguars and of course bears. He has lectured in Exeter for over 20 years yet has not been there for four years and looks forward to returning.

Just returned from a trip to Brazil's Pantanal wetlands, Nomadic client Hugh Cullen has told us how he came face to face with a jaguar whilst walking close to his hotel. He says he and the jaguar gave each other a quick look and then parted their own way, but it was naturally an unnerving moment!

Hugh survived to return with some wondrous photos including this super shot of a watchful jaguar reclining on a riverside perch ...

Life has been extremely hectic for us Nomads since March 2022 when travel re-opened in earnest and we have been doing our best to keep up with the returning demand for travel post-Covid. We now have a full-strength team again and we're enjoying meeting so many of our clients again who are back looking for adventurous travels having had their wings clipped for the past couple of years.

From today all travel restrictions for entering the UK have been removed and for the first time in almost 2 years, British travellers can return home from any country without the need for quarantine, Covid tests or online form-filling.
