🍄 Fungi Friday!!! 🍄

Here’s our Ranger Rachel with a magnificent troop of Glistening Inkcaps (Coprinus micaceus) by the mire loch!

These gregarious mushrooms are out in good numbers now so keep an eye out on broadleaf stumps and on buried wood.

We’ll be doing a Fungi walk in the near future so stay tuned here for more information 🙂🍄

14/9/24: A few weeks ago I went on holiday to Cape Clear, and island off the southern tip of Ireland. I went to visit my friend, Steve, who was the Warden of the Bird Observatory there. We had stunning weather and spent our time doing lots of bird and other wildlife watching and general enjoying nature. This is a hooded crow which basically replace carrion crows in the north and west of Scotland and in Ireland. They are close cousins, so much so that up until recently they were regarded as being the same species. I do think the hoody is rather more handsome though!
