Eyemouth Museum

Eyemouth Museum Open April to October each year - please visit our website for our current opening hours

Eyemouth Museum is based in the centre of the town and documents the fishing and social heritage of Eyemouth, brought to life in its exhibits and through stories from local people. Central to the museum is the famous Eyemouth Tapestry that commemorates the Great East Coast Fishing Disaster of 1881, known as Black Friday, when 129 Eyemouth men lost their lives at sea. The tapestry was hand crafted

by 24 local women and took 2 years to complete and is truly a sight to behold. As a museum, tourist information centre, exhibition gallery and gift shop, we're sure you'll find more than one reason to visit Eyemouth Museum.

The Kirkpatrick C2C is the new 250-mile long-distance cycling route from Stranraer to Eyemouth. The route is now fully signposted from coast to coast, and installations mark the start and end points of the route. In Eyemouth this is the Squiggly Bike sculpture and banners on the harbourside, in Stranraer it is an interactive sculpture of the first pedal bicycle which was invented in the region.

On Strava, cyclists have hailed the warm welcomes, share photos, and our over 300 club members are always looking for additional recommendations for cake and coffee stops – it would be lovely to get the local Eyemouth perspective for this: https://www.strava.com/clubs/1147120

More details are available at https://scotlandstartshere.com/kirkpatrickc2c.
