We love to share tips and recommendations on places to explore, particularly if they are not the mainstream attractions and here is one such hidden gem.

This is a little known spot - a private beach on the Helford River where you will be most welcome. Drive towards Falmouth, through Mawnan Smith and head to the Budock Vean Hotel TR11 5LG. Park for free in their car park and follow the signs for the foreshore and Koru. After a gentle 10 minute walk through magnificent gardens will be in this idylic spot by the water's edge. Best of all, there's a cafe (which is licenced to sell wine and beer) seating and sun loungers!

The cafe is run by husband and wife Tom and Hetti of and Helford River Cruises.

☼ Koru Cafe usually open Mondays to Saturdays 11am to 3pm (longer hours June to Sept)
☼ Regular river boat cruises operate from the quay
☼ Kayak adventures also available

On a sunny day, preferably at high tide, it's the most perfect tranquil spot to sit and watch the world go by.

There is a lot of activity in Falmouth this week with only a couple more days until the International Sea Shanty Festival.

Sea Shanties will be heard from nearly every pub and restaurant throughout the weekend with a programme that will keep you busy from 1pm to 10pm on Friday and Saturday and from 12pm to 3pm on Sunday. 🎶🌊
