Short “Taster” session today for a client with a Dacia Duster 4x4. Fitted with AT tyres a superb car. A little bit of training in the woods explaining how the various driver aids work before heading out into the Surrey Hills for a couple of hours.
A great way to see if you like driving on byways and also just to build a little confidence in your vehicle. Get to know all the stuff they don’t tell you when you buy the car from the dealer!

Congratulations to Callum on passing his LANTRA 4x4 ORV2 Off Road course today. A two day course using our trusty Disco 2 in very tricky/wet/slippy conditions.

Off to the Falkland Islands with BFBS next week, no off road experience prior to training, but now he’s better prepared and qualified to drive off road for work.

Off Road 4x4 Driver training today for five gents from a quarry company. New Defender, Ford Ranger and a VW Touareg. All very different vehicles with different drive systems, ground clearance and driver aids. All complete the full course with careful ground reading and route planning. Excellent teamwork between all the drivers.

The VW was a revelation and coped very well even without a low range gearbox.

Day two of our Outdoor First Aid Course.

Today we recapped on what we learnt yesterday and began to work on real life scenarios including vehicle accidents. You quickly learn how difficult it can be to access vehicles and occupants and how tricky it can be to treat and/or remove them from the vehicle. Lots of scenarios set up and tackled before moving onto animal, insects and disease first aid, prevention and cure.

A fascinating course which we highly recommend anyone does.

Ps - last pic is a flesh eating male & female Camel Spider (solifugids) which can grow to 1 metre. Thankfully not seen in the UK, but important to know if planning trips to desert countries.

Day one of our two day Outdoor First Aid Course. Bitterly cold but important to be able to put into practice things we learnt in the morning theory session, accidents don’t wait for the sunshine!
Things change in first aid guidance so ensuring your skills are up to date is vital. If you work or volunteer outdoors you really should get suitable training. Kevin has years of experience and first aid training skills and helps to ensure that the theory is put into real world context.

Tomorrow is more vehicle based first aid with a focus on vehicle accident first aid.

Lads day out today. Father and sons down to us for a Drive in the Woods experience. A mixture of previous off road experience with dad owning a Jeep back home for drive in the dunes and desert. Very different driving conditions here in Surrey, but all picked it up really well and had a fun morning.

Off road 4x4 driver training today for husband and wife off to Iceland for a once in a lifetime adventure. Hiring a local 4x4 for ‘F’ road use once in country the couple used our trusty “Herge” Disco 2 for their training today.

Ice crusted ground gave way to soft mud as the day progressed, but it was bitterly cold all day. Toasty warm in the training room and hot coffee all round.

Superb progress during the day with confidence building to tackle some tricky obstacles.

This 2 day course teaches you how to administer first aid in remote/outdoor conditions. Perfect for 4x4 drivers, D of E leaders, Scout & Guide leaders or anyone who works or plays outdoors.

The course will be held at our Farnham Training site in a mixture of indoor and outdoor settings. When in remote locations the time the emergency service may take to arrive will be longer so having the skills to treat those around you is essential.

This is the full 16 hour course and upon successful completion delegates will receive a suitable certificate. All materials will be supplied. Please bring your own food for lunch.

We have 6 places currently available. If you would like to book on, please get in touch ASAP. Payment is via invoice/bank transfer.

A cold and icy day on the Plain on the 2025 SPTA wildlife tour. The aim - great lanes and as many birds and other wildlife as we could find. A long tour visiting all 4 corners of the plain saw 41 birds seen. Sadly the 100,000 starlings that call the impact area home didn’t do a bedtime dance for us but went straight into the bushes this time, but it was still a great day.
