Another great day out, this time in Devon. First we travelled to Seaton for a ride on the Seaton Tramway to Colyton where our coach picked us up for the short drive to the glorious Donkey Sanctuary. Once again we enjoyed lovely sunshine. As always, thanks to North Dorset Travel and our driver, Paul, for getting us safely there and back!

Another couple of great trips with Ferndown Community Tours! On the 24th July we visited Powderham Castle and enjoyed a cruise along the River Exe. Then on the 31st it was a lovely visit to The Vyne.

Coming up for the rest of August, we still have a few seats available for our trip to Kew Gardens next Wednesday 14 August £55.00. On Tues 20 it's John's Surprise day out £65.00 and on Wed 28 we have a day out in London for £30.00.

We're also delighted to advise you we have now secured Dec 17 as the date for the stunning Bluebell Steamlights trip. Sparkle, glow and shimmer on a magical steam train covered by thousands of colourful lights.

We had another super trip on Wednesday 26 June. Some of our passengers spent the day in Oxford and the others went to Blenheim Palace.

We had a fabulous day out in the Cotswolds on Wed 19 June. After visiting several quaint villages, including Bourton-on-the-Water and Stow-on-the-Wold, John took the group for an unplanned visit to the Rollright Stones which was a pleasant surprise! They span nearly 2000 years of Neolithic and Bronze age development and each site dates from a different period.

Two more great day trips to tell you about. The first was on May 29 to the historic 27 Caen Hill Locks. This flight was John Rennie the Elder's solution to climbing a steep hill and, in 1810, was the last part of the 87-mile route of the Kennet and Avon navigation, commenced in 1796, between Bristol and Reading, to be opened.

On June 12 we had our ever popular Henley River Cruise & Afternoon tea. There was time before the cruise to explore Henley and some of our passengers found these lovely crocheted post box covers.

It is with great sadness we have learned of the passing of one of our wonderful co-travellers, Barry Andrews. Our deepest condolences to his wife and family. RIP Barry, always known to us as "Para Man".💔

Our final trip for 2023 was to see the panto, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, at the Mayflower in Southampton. It was a fantastic show.

Our penultimate trip for 2023 was the annual Turkey & Tinsel carvery at The Haywain in Cadnam. We had a full coach of 53 passengers as well as 13 guests who drove their own cars to meet us. It was a lovely festive occasion.

A fabulous day out at the Longleat Festival of Lights. This trip was a sell out and we have added a second trip on Thursday 7 December. Call us at 01202 059735 Mon-Fri from 10am to 2pm to book your seat. Would you like to go for free? All you have to do is book for 10 friends or family!!
It was cold and rather misty first thing but driving through the Safari Park we saw most of the animals and the lights were awesome.

Our latest trip was a day at Clarks Village so we could have some much needed retail therapy! Once again we lucked out with the weather ~ a lovely sunny day between two stormy ones! Judging by all the shopping bags in the luggage compartment a good day was had by all.

Last Wednesday we went on a tour of our lovely New Forest Meander. It was a rather damp and misty start but it did clear up and we could enjoy the beautiful scenery. Our carvery at the Stonehouse Haywain was delicious.

Another great day out with Ferndown Community Tours. Our great driver Paul drove us in our comfortable North Dorset Travel coach to Henley-on-Thames. We had a couple of hours to wander around this lovely town before boarding a boat for a leisurely cruise down the River Thames. We were served a delicious afternoon tea ~ yummy finger sandwiches and a choice of chocolate orange cake or lemon cake. It was such a relaxing day and we saw so many multi million pound homes along the river banks! We went through the Marsh Lock ~ got a good video of the lock opening but FB wouldn't let me add it here so it's a separate post!!

A wonderful trip to Windsor today. We were lucky as the rain stayed away! Some of our group queued to see Queen Mary's dolls house and some went through the staterooms but I think most of us visited St George's Chapel to view the final resting place of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It was a very poignant moment. There is no photography allowed inside the Castle or the Chapel.

A great day out yesterday. First we had a one hour cruise down the River Exe from Topsham to Exmouth. We had a train ticket to return to Topsham. Some of our group spent the day in Exmouth and some split their time between Exmouth and Topsham. We had lovely weather.

Another fantastic day out with gorgeous weather! Waddesdon Manor is a country house in the village of Waddesdon, in Buckinghamshire. Owned by the National Trust and managed by the Rothschild Foundation, it is one of the National Trust's most visited properties, with over 463,000 visitors in 2019. Waddesdon Manor was the Rothchilds' country "party house" from 1883 until it was bequeathed to the National Trust in 1957.

We have been on some wonderful day trips in July. We started with a visit to the RHS Hampton Court Flower Festival on July 6. Our next trip was to Buckingham Palace. Unfortunately no photography is permitted as I would have loved to show you the Coronation Regalia that was on display. July 20 took us to Lyme Regis. Our final July trip was to Tyntesfield House, a stunning ornate Victorian Gothic Revival house with extensive garden and parkland, just a stone's throw from Bristol.

Last Monday we had a great day out in Lacock. There's so much to see including the Abbey and the Fox Museum of Photography. Such a pretty village.
We still have space on our trip to the Ideal Home Show on Thurs 23 March for £39.00 or you can be dropped off at the V&A Museum and spend your day at leisure. The cost is £27.00. On Wed 29th March we will visit Buckfast Abbey and the House of Marbles for £39.00.

What a glorious sunny day for our visit to Richmond. We had time to walk along the tow path, do some people watching and have lunch before meeting up for our visit to The Poppy Factory.
It was founded in 1922 to offer employment opportunities to wounded soldiers returning from the First World War, creating remembrance poppies and wreaths for the Royal Family and The Royal British Legion's annual Poppy Appeal.
The poppies are no longer made here as that has been mechanised. However all the wreaths laid at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Day are still made here.
We had a very interesting talk from one of the hosts after which we were able to make our very own poppy! Our visit ended with a cup of tea (or coffee) and a slice of cake or a cup cake. Thanks again to North Dorset Travel and our wonderful driver, Rob.

We had a sunny but chilly day for our trip yesterday! It was a "dual" outing with visits to the Museum of the Great Western Railway followed by some retail therapy at the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Swindon.
