The Company was founded in 1980, From the minute John Hays opened his first small retail shop in Seaham, Co Durham, He was hooked and fell in love with the travel industry.

The company has come a long way since its humble beginnings. Today, we are proud to be the UK's largest independent travel agent, our annual turnover is more than £1 billion, and we employ over 1700 people. Across the country we have more than 180 retail shops and over 240 experienced travel agents who work from their homes.

We're also a company that cares. Our staff get involved in local community partnership projects on a regular basis and we've been awarded the prestigious Investors in People Gold status. As well as finding people their ideal holiday, we arrange all the extras like car hire, transfers and insurance. There's a foreign exchange bureau in each of our branches across the north east, where you can pick up commission free currency before you set off on holiday.

About The Team

Vanessa is a very experienced Travel Consultant who has travelled extensively around the world and has visited the Mediterranean, Caribbean and Dubai. Her most recent adventure was to Florida where she visited all the Disney and Universal theme parks and has lots of great tips and advice on how to make the most of your Orlando holiday.

Martine has re-joined us a Travel Consultant after being our Foreign Exchange Consultant for many years. She has a genuine passion for helping customers arrange their holidays. She has travelled to many places across the globe but her all time favourite is Barbados.

Alex started as an apprentice 6 years ago in our Broadstone branch, before moving to Wimborne and Ringwood, but we’re really glad he’s in Ferndown helping all our lovely customers.

Megan has recently finished her 2 year apprenticeship and has a wealth of knowledge to be able to help all our customers! She has a real passion for travel and is an expert in lots of different destinations and has most recently travelled to Prague! She come and see Meg to get your Prague city breaks booked !

Eliza has just finished her 1st year of the apprenticeship and is already heling lots of our customers. She has most recently visited New York and Disneyland Paris having previously travelled to the Canaries, Germany and the Mediterranean. Whilst with us she has booked her first cruise to visit the Norwegian fjords!
