Sea moss is a type of red algae also known as Irish moss (or Chondrus crispus, if you want to get formal about it). Busy on the North Bay beach this lunchtime

The first Minke Whale sighting off Yorkshire for 2022 as far as Scarborough Porpoise is aware of took place this afternoon with one seen heading south off Flamborough Head at 15.10 seen to be travelling south about 2 km offshore. Report via Simon Ward.

Minke Whale visit the Yorkshire coast in the summer and early autumn each year. Minke Whale are gentle giants year grow up to 9 m in length. (library photo)
