I have been through the diary with a fine tooth comb and created a whole load of new appointments for Emmi-pet teeth brushing 😁

Appointments are 30 minutes long and will make a great difference to your dogs teeth, breath and oral health.

If it's been a while since you had your dogs teeth cleaned then grab a slot. They will go fast!

We always have toys on hand at Doggy Furdoos.

Play is a great stress reliever and regular breaks can really help when we have a dog in who maybe is a bit nervous or not used to the groomers.

We can adapt the groom to fit the dog and their specific needs.

For example, while this beautiful boy is very well balanced and confident, he was having his first ever groom and so was a bit worried about the table and the drier. These were new experiences for him and he was not sure of expectations or what he was meant to do. No problem!

As you can see his drying was done on the floor, where he felt safe and was able to move away if it got too much.

I used games and treats to desensitise him to the stand drier, which is very gentle, and light massage to agitate the coat and let air flow.

He was a happy boy throughout and we thoroughly enjoyed each others company

You may have noticed that our salon is a bit different. Our methods are a bit different. Our ethics are a bit different.

The concept of giving our dogs the opportunity to consent is a big part of how we think and work, and is backed up by science.

No grooming session can be completely stress free, but recognising that we are dealing with living, feeling beings and offering choice goes a long way to reducing that stress and creating a feeling of safety for our dogs.

I will be putting up a few videos of how we work and I hope you enjoy seeing how relaxed the dogs are when they are here.

Tiny Toby has his regular deshedding treatments, which include a beautiful green clay mud bath, which is full of nutrients for his skin and coat, 2 gorgeous smelling deshedding shampoos, and a gentle massage to agitate the loose hair for easy removal.

Ever wondered how your dog views his world?

Reggie enjoying the snuffle mat before his groom. Sniffing and snuffling helps to relax him and relieve any tension or excitement before we set to work.

Ad-hoc mid-grooming play session. Did you know playing and sniffing about reduces your dogs stress? Skye here is pretty confident at the groomers but she does love her toys, so why not have a short break to play!

Bramble heard all about our holistic grooming approach and decided to partake. Here she is relaxing on the floor whilst being dried.

Poppy is one of my very long term clients. She is very used to being groomed and always comes bouncing in. As an older dog I have my table right down to the floor so she can get on and off as she wants. This means that if it gets too much, she can have a little break as needed. She can lie down if she wants, or move about naturally.
