The gorse has been particularly stunning in the forest this year and now the May is doing the same.

A lovely trip through Hasley, Slufters to the top of Ragged Boys Hill for a picnic stop. Then down to Holly Hatch, Splash Bridge, the other way through Hasley, Ogdens, Hyde and home. We are so lucky to be here on the edge of the New Forest.

Just pausing for a moment on my morning walk through the rally field, I could hear the blackbird, robin, chif chaf, greenfinch, dunnock, chaffinch, white wagtail, wren (my favourite) and jackdaw. We have just built a dead hedge so hopefully it will give them some new nesting sites.

So nice to be only 1/2 mile from the forest. This was our coffee stop by Hasley.

This pony is enjoying something underwater. I think it might be watercress.

A lovely day to get out and about on the New Forest. The Royal Oak in North Gorley is where we stopped for a drink today. There are 10 pubs within driving distance from home! It’s good to have a break when you are starting to get your animals fit after the winter.

The New Forest is looking magnificent at the moment with all the new spring growth and the bluebells and wood anemones. A lovely 10 mile trip along Hampton Ridge, down into Amberwood and Slodden hearing the cuckoo to Hazley and back through the Ford at Ogdens

We had a lovely trip to Eyeworth Pond yesterday. Through Ogdens, Hasley Inclosure, Sloden Inclosure, Fritham Plain, past the pub at Fritham and down to Eyeworth Pond where we heard the cuckoo! 6.71 miles. It’s a beautiful spot with lots of parking if you come by car. After a leisurely picnic, we returned via Hampton Ridge, enjoying the most fabulous views, some say you can see both Salisbury and Bournemouth. Then down to Abbotswell and Stucton passing The Forresters pub and The Three Lions pub to home. 5.86 miles all along gravel tracks.
