Things are about to change!!

Although it’s been beautiful, sunny and warm the last week or so don’t forget that there is still a lot of snow up high on Ben Nevis!

All the soft snow up there currently is about to go super hard and frozen in the next few days with even more dangerous consequences now there is rock showing!

Please make sure you have proper winter equipment if heading up in the next few days and over the weekend!

Crampons will be essential, micro spikes are not good enough, if in doubt please ask 🤘🙏

I was on the Aonach Eagach looking across at Ben Nevis and we were warm 😂 must have been warm on the mountain track today!!

Wow it’s been warm!!

Who’s been getting some rays today?

Ben Nevis looking stunning still, a lot of snow lost off the places exposed to the sun but lots still hiding in the shade although getting rapidly softer!

It was looking a lot blacker today on our walk in!

Low down the snow is much softer than it has been for a week or two and the low buttresses are very bare of snow. The gullies and higher than 1000m are holding up pretty well though by the look of it.

We climbed Garadh Gully which had water running off the rocks but the ice was still great to climb and taking solid ice screws 👌 and it didn’t rain 🎉

Another day of blue sky but my goodness it’s windy!

Nearly got blown of my feet a fair few times approaching the North face, very consequential on the firm snow and ice. Take care if you are out 👌

Looks like a change in the weather this evening back to a bit damper and more mild!

Having the proper equipment and an understanding of how to use it up Ben Nevis at the moment is vital!

Sturdy boots and crampons were essential the other day, no reason why you shouldn’t be totally prepared for the conditions 👌💪

Lovely views walking in this morning, very windy though!

Cloud came down during the day and the spindrift increased.

Busier in the upper North Face car park than I have ever seen, not super busy up in Observatory Gully though.

We climbed the Wet Spring start of the Echo Traverse and the first two pitches of Hadrians Wall. Super climbing.

Others on Tower Scoop, Observatory Buttress, Point 5, Orion Direct, Italian Climb.

The North Face of Ben Nevis was in great condition for climbing today high up, we found mostly excellent ice, a little breakable crust in places and on the way down but it certainly didn’t affect our day 😊

We climbed “The White Line” and descended number 4 gully.

Teams on Garadh Gully, Glovers, Comb, Green, No3 Gully Buttress, Tower Ridge, Orion Direct, Hadrians Wall, Indicator Wall.

Hiding from the wind today on the North Face of Ben Nevis.

Anyone up the mountain track?

We saw a big change in temperature whilst we were out! Fairly cold and snow was firm on the way up, by the time we had done 2 pitches it was noticeably warmer and raining on our way down.

Ice was awesome though 👌😎❄️
