Our 0745 Lochaline to Ardnamurchan High School 507 service is unable to run this morning. Pupils have been made aware and the school will be informed. We are hopeful that the 0930 Lochaline to Fort William 507 service will run as normal. ❄️☃️

The following statement has been emailed to local councillors, MPs, MSP and BEAR Scotland representatives:

Shiel Buses are exasperated by the continued impact of the BEAR roadworks on the A830. They are situated outside Lochaber High School on the A830 and the entrance to the B8006. This is controlled by a 3 way traffic light system which is severely impacting our services, including school services.

We take great pride in serving our local community and greatly appreciate the ongoing efforts of our team to deliver safe, reliable and punctual network services. Unfortunately the latter has been taken out of our hands despite continued engagement with contractors we fail to see any significant improvements in disruption management.

We are only halfway through the second week of twelve weeks of planned disruptions and we only foresee unacceptable delays throughout. We are suffering daily disruptions of up to 60 minutes with over 2 mile tail backs which is seriously affecting people’s lives, both employees and customers, as they are late for work, late for appointments and late for the start and finish times of schools.

We urge immediate action to address these concerns that is severely affecting transportation and commerce.

We are very saddened to share the news of the passing of Alistair MacGillivray: a true Highland gentleman.

Over 45 years ago Alistair and his brother Donnie established Shiel Buses. They started the company with three buses and with hard work, determination and without a single cross word, shaped the company into what it is today.

Alistair’s calm and steady character together with his wit and his polite and gentle manner endeared him to all he encountered as he covered the length and breadth of the country.

He will be sorely missed by his family and so many more who knew him.
