My first night back in many weeks and so happy to see the pine martens, I think it must be mum and a fully grown kit. So special.
Seems our garden is quite a busy place when we're not looking. So many different visitors to one place, and one rather unlucky mouse.
Well, we seem to have a new visitor to the garden, what a handsome chap too. So glad to finally have proof that badgers are visiting the garden - and they like peanuts! #gardenwildlife #badgers #scottishwildlife
What better way to say goodbye to the old year and prepare for the new than to immerse yourself in the landscape. Cold but invigorating, beautiful even on a dreich day. Happy Hogmanay to everyone and may 2022 be a happier, and wilder one for you. #wildswimming #wildscotland #nurtureinscotland #winterinscotland #keepscotlandwild #happynewyear2022
Another post from our brilliant trip on the Sheerwater last week. Not just whales but a really playful pod of dolphins, with some really small calves. Just magical. Arisaig Marine #dolphins #YCW2020 @wildscotland_
What a nice surprise our pine marten youngster is exploring and come to visit around the back of the house. So nice to have a teatime visitor. Although he had to go back round the front to get his snack & treat our visitors.🙂
Great to experience the wonderful sight & sounds (can't do smell on video) of the seabird colony on Lunga #treshnishisles . Thanks to @staffa_tours for another great trip. #puffin #seabirds
Woolly bears can move remarkably quickly, presumably warmed up by the sun and keen to avoid being seen by the cuckoo's.#caterpillar #moths #butterflyconservation #springwatch
Mesmerised by the sand martins swooping and soaring over Loch Arkaig and under the White Bridge. #springbirds #springwatch #arkaigcommunityforest #woodlandtrust #birdflight
Red deer Loch Arkaig
I think these stags are expecting something..... looking at us very hungrily. They were all coming running, but only this one was really bold. They get supplementary feeding this year and the snow has brought them down off the hills.
A busy hole in the river bank
Went to retrieve a camera trap from the bank of the river Lochy which had been positioned on what I had thought to be an outlier Badger sett. We were delighted to find out later that it was being used as an Otter holt, with a couple of good images of at least two different Otters coming and going (female using hole and male investigating). We also had a Badger walking past and a rather scruffy Roebuck also investigating. The hole was also used by a vole and a dust-bathing Great Tit! Just for a change, this is one of the things we can see from our window #AWindowOnScotland #viewfromourwindow #lockdown2020
Pine marten feeding time
Just in case anyone's missing out on seeing pine martens. This is our veteran matriarch, still going strong. She's looking a bit scuffy as she begins to moult, starts at her nose. Wild Scotland #pinemarten #gardenwildlife #lockdownentertainment #scottishwildlife
Moth trapping at Glenloy
As we're missing all our guests at the moment we wanted to share some of the things we regularly do at Glenloy Wildlife. So, why not start in the garden with the moth trap, which Jon sets up throughout the season to monitor which moths are around. It's always fascinating to see what's flying about at night and how beautiful and varied moths are. For anyone wanting the full 'experience' then there's a longer video on YouTube which also includes a squirrel! https://youtu.be/cjnJR9IDRxc

Young pine martens with mother
This year's pine marten kits coming out to play with mum. Lovely to see them so bold and adventurous but still sticking close to mum. Our guests were delighted, even if dinner did get cold. #pinemarten #wildlochaber #wildscotland #wildscotlandisnow #scotlandisnow
