We're going to walk off our Christmas Day feast with a Boxing Day walk in the Forest of Bowland.

With the endless trails and crisp countryside air to blow away the cobwebs, we don't feel as guilty for those extra few pigs in blankets yesterday 🤣

Don't let the cold stop you from landing your next big catch! Here are some of our top tips for coarse fishing in the colder months:

🥶 Shorter sessions: avoid getting too cold, shorter more frequent sessions may help you to stay productive and help you to identify popular spots for the fish to gather.

🎣 Smaller tackle: use lighter lines and smaller hooks for increased sensitivity, helping you to detect bites from less active fish in colder temperatures.

🐟 Be mobile: be prepared to move around the lake to follow the fish as they find warm pockets of water throughout the day - keep a keen eye for signs of activity!

🪱 Consider your bait: maggots are a popular choice due to their natural scent and movement, use small amounts more often as the fish won't need to eat as much in the colder weather.

As the colder months roll in, it's time to make sure your home-away-from-home stays in top shape for next year! If you're leaving your lodge over the winter, here are some of our top tips for winter-proofing:

🚰 Avoid frozen pipes by draining water from all taps and appliances. If you're unsure how a plumber should be fully trained and insured to do this for you!
🌸 Place a few dehumidifiers throughout your lodge, including in bathrooms and wardrobes, to help to fend off dampness.
🪟 Check windows and doors for draughts and cracks: a little weatherproofing goes a long way in keeping warmth in and damp out!
🔌 If you're leaving your lodge, turn off and unplug all electronics, it's safer and will save your electricity bills!
🏓 Store garden furniture, outdoor games etc. away to keep them from becoming damaging in the wind, rain and frost!
