For those that are interested, here is a picture of the cable and joint that blew. It was the 11kv cable and joint connecting the HV cables to the BC sub station. Fortunately that part belongs to SSE.

Whilst power is now restored they are still working on the new cable jointing. As a result the power is likely to go off for a short period in a few hours time so that they can remake the joint. Charge your phones now!

Generator is now on site. SSE will work in phases. Rest of Monks lane will be reinstated first and then work their way down to us. SSE will be on site most of day and there will be some digging by the suspect pole close to BC83.

Update on power outage. SSE have found fault. Problem is a faulty cable by the BC sub-station. They will replace cable but in mean time will probably install temporary generator. Power is still likely to be off until midday.

30/12/2023

Dear members, we are currently experiencing a site wide power outage that is also affecting the whole of monks lane. This happened around 5am.
SSE are aware and are trying to fix issue but it may not be rectified until midday.
We will try and keep you posted (subject to our battery levels).

IWCouncil have advised that it has become necessary to close a section of the coastal path (T34) between Colwell Chine Road and Totland Pier.
The closure is to allow investigations and works to take place to part of the seawall structure, as a void under it has been found.
A diversion will be via Colwell Chine Road, Footpaths T1 / T2 and Madeira Road.
