First picture of Atlantic Bluefin Tuna in Scottish waters. Not as clear as we would like but good enough for the experts to confirm that it's the real deal.

Spotted atleast 5 s***m whales today whilst we were out fishing, very disappointed not to have my camera out but fingers crossed they are about tomorrow. I have never seen a s***m whale before, so to see so many was a brilliant sight

"Minke Dive", The Minch, Scotland. With the help of Jody and North West Cruises Gairloch, I managed to take a picture of this minke whale back in early August. It's a very impressive sight indeed and very hard to do it justice with a camera. Still, I thought she looked quite nice set against the backdrop of the Isle of Skye and hope you like it too. I'll not be posting much for a while as I'm off to France for a week or so climbing and stuff. Hopefully I'll be able to share some of the pictures I take there here on facebook too - before settling back home and resuming lots more closer to home in Wester Ross :-)

"Just one of Jody's dolphins" - taken a couple of nights ago when out with the family on one of Jodi's brilliant North West Cruises Gairloch. I've not taken so many pictures of dolphins or any other sea or wildlife for that matter over the years - always found it hard to translate "my style" to wildlife especially when there are so many brilliant wildlife photographers out there. Still, thanks to Jody's enthusiasm and experience gained through decades of fishing these waters, I was helped to find several opportunities to remember what was a brilliant evening :-) In this one, I loved the abstract nature of it, the colour, the texture and the air, bubbles and water frozen in time. Hope you like it!

Hoping to get back out with you again soon Jod/John and many thanks again!

If you're in the area and fancy getting close to dolphins, porpoises, whales etc please give these guys a call. Pure magic!

"Minch Minke", another one taken when out last week with North West Cruises Gairloch. In this one I tried to capture the slhouette of a Minke whale with the backdrop of the Isle of Skye. I did well to follow Jody the skip's advice waiting to see her arch her back most steeply before making the final dive deep down into the Minch. The water was flat calm that night and there was very little wind. It was so peaceful. Sometimes though, the sound of the whale blowing water would break that silence in a truly awesome way. It wasn't possible to capture the sound amidst the silence for you unfortunately - that would have been cool but hey, hope you like the photo anyway! :-)
