A lovely post about what can be seen up in the sky tonight above Tig (assuming no clouds!)
Even without magical planet alignments, the sky above Tig is magical. Most of us don’t have darkness in our lives any more, and there’s nothing like stepping out and seeing darkness - true, real darkness, not the murky grey punctuated by streetlights that we call night now - and then, as your eyes adjust, looking up and seeing a multitude of stars, at first those you know, and then, as your eyes adjust, more and more….

🪐This evening, seven planets are due to line up in the night sky in a rare planetary alignment that won't grace our skies again until 2040.
🪐Throughout the month, Mars, Jupiter, Mercury, Venus and Saturn have been visible to the naked eye, with Uranus and Neptune seen with binoculars or a telescope. Now, Mercury has joined the 'parade'.
Night sky experts say this evening, February 28, is the best date this week to spot the celestial display, as Mercury will be higher on the horizon.
🪐Planetary alignments occur because the planets in our solar system orbit the Sun within roughly the same plane, known as the ecliptic plane,” Dr Shyam Balaji, a researcher in astroparticle physics and cosmology at King’s College London, said. “As they orbit at different speeds and distances from the Sun, there are moments when they appear to line up from Earth’s perspective.”
🌍The best time to see the alignment in the UK this evening will be shortly after sunset, when the planets will be positioned above the western horizon”.
🤞Fingers crossed for some clear skies. 🤞
