A date for the diary!
Thanks to the SCOTO Network! ❤️Girvan
"Girvan Tourist Information and Craft Shop is thrilled to be a SCOTO Enterprise. We firmly believe in the power of community tourism and are eager to network, access valuable resources, and support its vibrant growth in Scotland” Susanne Arbuckle.
Our network is growing, so we’re excited to introduce our SCOTO Enterprises. This week, we’re shining a spotlight on Girvan Tourist Information, where local volunteers offer a warm welcome, local insights, arts and crafts, and free Wi-Fi. Plus, they’re dog-friendly! 🐾 🐕 ❤️
Why be a SCOTO Enterprise? Our Network thrives on the shared knowledge and experiences that drive the growth of community-led tourism. Girvan Tourist Information is just one of the many community-led SCOTO Tourist Information Centres/Hubs supporting other communities in developing their own VICs or simply wanting to enhance visitor information provision in their local area. Susanne Arbuckle(Adventures Around Scotland )has also inspired others with her presentation on reshaping Girvan's media narrative with the help of Girvan's four-legged furry companions!
If you want to learn how the SCOTO Network can help your community, please visit https://www.scoto.co.uk/ or contact: [email protected]

Unfortunately the passengers from the Silver Wind cruise ship were unable to disembark in Girvan this afternoon due to the wind We had arranged for them to be welcomed by Sophie Quinn, a young piper from Girvan Academy Sophie very kindly offered to brave the wind and play a tune anyway so we could share a virtual welcome to Girvan Thank you so much to Sophie for playing, Girvan Academy for supporting us and our volunteer Pauline Forsyth for arranging We hope the passengers, crew and all our followers enjoy Sophie playing ‘Green Hills of Tyrol’ Please send her a wee round of applause 👏 👏👏
A massive thanks to Davie Anderson Music for entertaining cruise ship visitors, tourists and locals at Girvan Tourist Information today. Needless to say his Scottish folk tunes went down particularly well with the international audience who thoroughly enjoyed the local welcome. We were very busy today and the TIP volunteers worked hard with almost 100 visitors stopping by to ask for information, buy local crafts, and of course, listen to the music. We also had volunteers down at the harbour to help welcome cruise ship passengers. We are delighted that Davie would like to come back and play for visitors again in the future. If you’re a fan of his music, you will be pleased to know we also have his cd’s for sale in our shop.
🥳Exciting News🥳 Girvan Tourist Information and Craft Shop will reopen for the season at 11am on Friday 29th March We would love to reach 100 followers before we open so please share our page and invite your friends and family to help us get there If you want to pop along and have a look at our visitor facilities and craft shop, you can find us at the rear of The Town House, 25 Knockcushan Street, Girvan We look forward to welcoming you 😃
John and Jennifer Stewart also played and sang a few tunes at our open day and we were delighted to have them along. We really appreciate all the musicians who gave up their time to support our fundraising event. Lots of people have commented on how fantastic it was to have live music as they enjoyed their cream teas and cake 🍰 and we agree! We really hope local musicians can continue to join us over the spring and summer as we open our doors again to warmly welcome tourists to our town.
We were so pleased that a few local musicians offered to play some live music during our open day including a set from David Perkins. It helped to create an uplifting atmosphere for our visitors and we hope to have more music sessions throughout the season. We are very passionate about showcasing and celebrating local musicians, makers and heritage to visitors as part of their Girvan experience.
