Local Piper Sophie Quinn
Unfortunately the passengers from the Silver Wind cruise ship were unable to disembark in Girvan this afternoon due to the wind
We had arranged for them to be welcomed by Sophie Quinn, a young piper from Girvan Academy
Sophie very kindly offered to brave the wind and play a tune anyway so we could share a virtual welcome to Girvan
Thank you so much to Sophie for playing, Girvan Academy for supporting us and our volunteer Pauline Forsyth for arranging
We hope the passengers, crew and all our followers enjoy Sophie playing ‘Green Hills of Tyrol’
Please send her a wee round of applause 👏 👏👏
Davie Anderson - Braes o' Killiecrankie
A massive thanks to Davie Anderson Music for entertaining cruise ship visitors, tourists and locals at Girvan Tourist Information today.
Needless to say his Scottish folk tunes went down particularly well with the international audience who thoroughly enjoyed the local welcome.
We were very busy today and the TIP volunteers worked hard with almost 100 visitors stopping by to ask for information, buy local crafts, and of course, listen to the music.
We also had volunteers down at the harbour to help welcome cruise ship passengers.
We are delighted that Davie would like to come back and play for visitors again in the future.
If you’re a fan of his music, you will be pleased to know we also have his cd’s for sale in our shop.

TIP Open Day Sunday 24th March
John and Jennifer Stewart also played and sang a few tunes at our open day and we were delighted to have them along.
We really appreciate all the musicians who gave up their time to support our fundraising event.
Lots of people have commented on how fantastic it was to have live music as they enjoyed their cream teas and cake 🍰 and we agree!
We really hope local musicians can continue to join us over the spring and summer as we open our doors again to warmly welcome tourists to our town.
TIP Open Day, Sunday 24th March 2024
We were so pleased that a few local musicians offered to play some live music during our open day including a set from David Perkins.
It helped to create an uplifting atmosphere for our visitors and we hope to have more music sessions throughout the season.
We are very passionate about showcasing and celebrating local musicians, makers and heritage to visitors as part of their Girvan experience.
