As the year begins to wane, we find ourselves reflecting on the magic that has shaped our journey.

Early this year, we had the honor of collaborating with the enchanting artist to create a mural that now graces our hallway archway. Inspired by Alan Garner’s The Owl Service, a retelling of Blodeuwedd from the Mabinogi, this piece feels like a spell cast upon the Chapel.

Each time I pass, I’m drawn into its world - the delicate details of its characters and motifs, nestled within the deep, bronzed-red embrace of paint by . It’s more than a mural; it’s a portal, a heart-space, and a story woven into the very soul of the Chapel.

A few weekends ago, we embarked on an unforgettable adventure filled with community, creativity, and connection! 🏞️🌈 Our Q***r Nature Retreat was a celebration of the deep connection between q***rness and the natural world, offering a sanctuary where LGBTQIA+ individuals could recharge, grow, and thrive.

🌟 Highlights included:
🎶 An energizing Taiko drumming workshop guided by the incredible Hedd, awakening rhythm and energy
🧘‍♂️ Grounding yoga practices, where we explored q***r and LGBTQIA+ themes with intention and care
🌊 Wild swimming in nature, connecting deeply with the elements and finding renewal in the water
🍽️ Incredible seasonal food crafted by our talented chefs at Chapel on the Green, nourishing both body and soul
🔥 A magical evening soirée, where guests shared songs, poetry, and music in a beautiful atmosphere of creativity and support
🚶‍♀️ A mindful walk deep in nature, offering spectacular views of the Black Mountains and the Brecon Beacons
📚 A fun trip to Hay-on-Wye, including a visit to its inspiring LGBT+ bookshop, full of stories and discoveries

It truly felt like one of the most meaningful and special retreats we’ve ever hosted. Together, we built a little q***r community here at the Chapel in Wales, forging new friendships and connections that we’ll cherish for a long time. 💕

Exciting news from The Chapel!

We are SLOWLY working on our online shop and creating a dedicated area for artworks and editions at the Chapel herself. Our ceramics are a labor of love; we craft wonky plates, vases, and candlesticks that add charm to our supper clubs and dining during our retreats.

Some of our favorite designs are now available on our website, including unique table personalized pieces that have delighted our guests. We believe these special items deserve new homes, so check them out and bring a bit of The Chapel into your own space! 🏺✨

🌙 This summer, we hosted our first Laughing Moon Supper Club at the chapel!

It was an enchanting evening where food, art, and laughter came together in perfect harmony. Guests enjoyed delicious dishes crafted by Roo from Pom Pom Cooks, surrounded by stunning artwork by Ruby Bateman and ceramics by Blue Firth from Dohm Shop.

The atmosphere was filled with vibrant conversations and culinary magic, making it an unforgettable experience.

As the shadows shift across your walls, these pieces invite you to slow down and find stillness in the glow of candlelight, welcoming the mystery of the dark season ahead. 🕯️

The Chapel proudly displaying its Gothic architecture, pinnacles full of simple formal details.

Did you know that our charming Chapel was built in 1886 and served as a vibrant place of worship until 1998? For many years, our kind neighbors held the key, welcoming visitors every Sunday.

Today, The Chapel has been lovingly transformed into a beautiful and creative retreat, perfect for families and friends seeking a unique and characterful getaway or those who join us for our seasonal programme of retreats.

After falling into disrepair, the building underwent a conversion in 2006 - 2008. It remained on the market for 8 years with only occasional tenants until we joyfully took over in 2016. Now, it stands as a testament to history, love, and creativity, ready to welcome new memories and stories.

We do get to stay that often anymore but will be staying over this weekend and cant wait!
