Visit our stunning castles with Scottish Tours
St Andrew’s Day is nearly here and we continue our focus on the highlights of Scotland today with our castles.
At one time, Scotland had over 3,000 castles. Today, some are in ruins and others are in fabulous order and welcoming visitors from all over the world.
The most famous castle is possibly Edinburgh Castle in our capital city where we traditionally ‘bring in the New Year’ at Hogmanay.
But equally famous are Stirling Castle, Eilean Donan Castle and Balmoral Castle - all of which are open to the public at certain times of the year.
There has been a new sighting of ‘Nessie’ in the last few weeks.
The most recent sighting of our famous monster was on the 15th of June. The official register states:
"Etienne Camel, a pharmacist from Lyon, and his wife Eliane, were visiting Loch Ness and claimed to have spotted a 65ft-long dark shape moving just beneath the surface of the water for several minutes."
"They were taking pictures from the west side of the loch near Invermoriston."
This is the second record of an unexplained shape in the waters of Loch Ness this year.
Will there be more sightings this year?
