Ahoy there for one of the last times…

Firstly, a thank you to everyone who visited during the last three years.
It's been a pleasure to give so many people their first electric boating experience. Your smiling faces and same old jokes about chucking the kids or mother in law overboard have been the real treasure.

It's devastating to be closing down this otherwise successful enterprise but the Canal and River Trust have all but forced me out: they withheld key information whilst approving and watching me financially commit to an expansion this year.

On top of this, there remain serious problems with water depth around Gloucester. The Barge Arm and other areas of the docks are perilously shallow despite CRT handing out millions of pounds to dredging contractors.

It’s just not feasible to continue offering a boating service here anymore.

LV14 SULA Lightship is widely considered one of Gloucester’s iconic landmarks, easy to spot with its bright red exterior, it is the UK’s only stay aboard lightship, which makes it rather special!

In terms of sustainability, SULA has been repurposed from a redundant Light vessel awaiting scrapping into a unique self-catered accommodation suite of 2 bedrooms, bathroom and perfect kitchen, lounge and dining area.

We love the fact, that SULA provide all their guests’ toiletries in the Suite, which are Ecologically friendly and meet the requirements for discharge into the canal.
