Service based husky week in Sweden - raise awareness of the impact your students can have on other beings. The focus of the service-based week is to be directly involved in the wellbeing and health of the dogs and give the students a sense of accomplishment on top of a once-in-a-lifetime trip. And who knows they might be lucky enough to witness the Northern Lights too.

🦌 Fun Facts About Svalbard Reindeer 🦌

Exclusive Residents: Svalbard reindeer are found only in the Svalbard archipelago in the Arctic Ocean. They're a unique subspecies adapted to the extreme Arctic environment.

Compact and Hardy: Unlike their mainland cousins, Svalbard reindeer are smaller and stockier. This compact build helps them conserve heat and survive in harsh conditions.

Winter Survivors: During the long, dark winters, Svalbard reindeer dig through snow to find food like mosses and lichens. Their hooves are perfectly designed for this tough task!

Year-Round Grazers: In the brief Arctic summer, they feast on a variety of tundra vegetation, building up fat reserves to get through the winter months.

Fluffy Coats: Their thick, two-layered fur coat provides excellent insulation against the freezing temperatures. The outer layer repels water, while the dense underfur traps heat.

Solo and Social: Svalbard reindeer are typically seen alone or in small groups, unlike the large herds of reindeer in other regions.

Natural Predators: With no natural predators in Svalbard, these reindeer lead a relatively peaceful life compared to their mainland relatives.
