The Coach House situated in a quiet hamlet on a no through road, is just 10 minutes walk from the centre of Grange-over-Sands and the train station. It has excellent views towards Arnside Knott across the gardens of The Garth, your hosts house over the road and Morecambe Bay. You need to keep right at the entrance to the Hampsfell House Hotel. It is the next house on the left after about 150 metre
s. Check in is at 3pm, Checkout at 12pm. There is a £150 damages deposit which is automatically returned to you ten days after departure via TripAdvisor. To date, we have not made a claim on the damages deposit. We expect guests to leave the property much the same as you find it, paying particular attention to the oven and BBQ. Please leave out any broken items such as chipped glasses, so they can be replaced typically free of charge. The cottage has two large Bedrooms. The master room has a double bed and an en-suite bathroom, whilst the second bedroom has a double bed, a single bed plus an additional pull out mattress. A second bathroom is adjacent to this bedroom. An additional mattress can be provided if required for a seventh guest. A baby pack is available, with cot, bedding, push chair, baby rucksack, toilet seat and high chair. Egyptian cotton bed linen and towels are provided as are basic toiletries. A dog kennel is available for owners with dogs, though no pets are allowed in the house due to allergies and additional cleaning requirements. The Coach House has gas powered central heating via a combi boiler, wood burning stove with logs, Miele vacuum cleaner with additional bags, oven, hob, microwave, cooking utensils, fridge, freezer, washing machine with powder, clothes dryer, smart TV, typically broadband throughout, outside seating, large gas powered BBQ and bedside alarm clocks. There are also various games, books, maps, guides and leaflets of local facilities and activities. The property is like a terraced bungalow, with bedrooms, bathrooms and utilities on the lower floor and a large lounge / kitchen on the upper floor. Access to the conservatory, enclosed garden and a massive sun terrace is made from the lounge. The terrace is equipped with BBQ, deckchairs, large table and has splendid views looking out across Morecambe Bay towards Arnside Knott. On a nice day, a great place to lounge and observe the antics between Buzzards and Crows, hear the owls at dusk and the bleating of sheep. Entry to the quiet woods and open access fells beyond is pretty much on the doorstep or via a small garden gate. A walk to the Hospice (a viewing tower on top of Hampsfell) must be one of the best walks in the Lake District for the least amount of effort, including fine 360 degree views of the Lakeland Fells, the Howgills, Morecambe Bay and on a clear day, even Snowdonia. With a good pace, a return trip can be done within 30 minutes. We have a no outside music policy as the area is a quiet hamlet consisting of three dwellings and a Hotel. It is possible to climb over the terrace fence and fall a distance of about 10 feet, so parents should be aware. The drive and garage combined can take up to three cars in total with good storage facilities for mountain bikes or other such items of sports equipment. There are several places to eat out (and a few take away's) in Grange, including The Hampsfell House Hotel situated next door. They serve, in my opinion, excellent meals including breakfast, with a comfy bar and open fire. Although cars are useful, they are not totally necessary especially for a short stay. Train travel from London can be less than 3 Hrs with just one change at Lancaster. The Coach House is within walking distance from the train station, though local taxis and car hire (Station Yard Garage) are available. We look forward to welcoming you to The Coach House. We will endeavour to make your stay as happy as possible.
