On 1st January, join us to help launch Rail 200, celebrating 200 years of the railway, with our Ne’erday Noon Whistle Down - where railway locos throughout Britain will herald the start of this special railway year, by blowing their distinctive whistles.

A trolley service is available to purchase drinks and snacks on the Mince Pie Specials.

Children (3-15) will receive an activity book and crayons.

Journey time (Aviemore to Broomhill and return) 1h 30m

Babies (0-3) on knee travel free.

Departures available:

12:30 – Take in the wintery landscape, of the Cairngorms National Park, as you steam* along our Highland Heritage line.

15:00 – Experience the Highland winter golden hour, as you steam* along our Highland Heritage line.

Scheduled dates:

December: Sat 28th and Sun 29th.
January: Wed 1st, Thu 2nd, Fri 3rd, Sat 4th and Sun 5th.

*We always aim to deliver a steam hauled service however, on occasion, due to operational issues, it may be necessary to substitute for a heritage diesel engine to ensure the service can still be delivered.

Santa Claus is coming to Strathspey Railway!

It's the BIG DAY!!!! And while there is lots going on in our rally today, those questions have been flying in confirming the deets....... So ...

SATURDAY MASS RIDE OUT...

When is it? Today (Saturday)

What time? Bikes will be leaving from 12 but many line up as early as 10.30 onwards. Come along early and enjoy the epic atmosphere around our rally village and traders stalls.

What time will they arrive in Grantown? The ride out is 48 miles and takes around 80 mins. Again, we'd would encourage arriving early to view everyone arriving.

Do I need to register? Nope!

Is any type of bike allowed? Absolutely! But be warned, it's likely you will want a Harley Davidson after so head over to Edinburgh Harley-Davidson at the Winking Owl who have their demo bikes set up 😆

How many riders take part? Well I could try to count them, or make a number up.. but we are talking thousands! It can take more than 45 minutes for the ride up to pass one spot on the route.
Where does it start? The official line up starts in the resort. Head up the hill to the main hotel resort and our road crew will direct you. Do not try to join on route or on high street - you will be blocked off from joining.

Does the ride out go through x, y, z village or street? Now I absolutely love this part of the world and visit often outside of the rally BUT .. the best way to check is on this interactive map where you can zoom in and check. https://maps.harley-davidson.com/share/rides/4BOiwPEsK

Isn't it going to rain? I tend to leave the weather forecast to Windy ( ) but our standard this weekend has been showers with fab sunshine in-between. We'll be riding out regardless and the weather doesn't change the atmosphere or enjoyment!

What time does the ride out head back? There is no organised ride back, just make your own way after back after enjoying all the activities in Grantown.

Will there be photos? Soo..... we have a huge number of fab peeps on site today including official photographers, , Live Fast Die Old videographers and our rally village photographers. We'll be sharing as much as we can post the ride out and any links we received BUT do make sure you pop back to the rally village to check the trade stand who photographs on route (and arrival here) to buy.

It's my first time and I'm nervous!!! Any advice? We have all been there.. and reality is when you talk to people about their first ride, they find it hard to explain the emotions they felt during the ride out. Yep, I def cried!! Our top tip is to arrive early and be closer to the front .. and time that very last toilet break for those nerves 😆 Chat to those around you and explain first time and you'll be more than looked after by a friendly and welcoming community of bikers.
