Change from scenery photos to family history. As the nights draw in more time spent digging up roots. Came across this great photograph of the Garrow family who for several generations were millers at Milton of Castle Grant.

Here are James Garrow and his wife Christina Kennedy plus family: back left to right, Willie, Peter, Alex, Charlie, Ina, Christina Kennedy, baby Gregor, James Garrow, Joe,Carrie, Maggie and Robert. Photo taken abt 1906.

Into the 20th century it was known as Garrow’s Mill and ceased operating in the 1930’s

Grateful if anyone can add any more information.

The fourth and last supermoon of 2024 taken last night 225,000 miles from Earth. Now called a Beaver Moon as we appear to adopt North American indigenous names.

Reflections on Lochindorb. Ruined 12th century castle built by the Comyn family and later the lair of Alexander Stewart, ‘The Wolf of Badenoch’.

On the north shore is Tirriemore, the setting for Maurice Walsh (1926),
‘The Key Above The Door’.

On a day like this not living up to its name ‘the loch of trouble’ .

Out tonight with party from The Boat Country Inn & Restaurant Group were treated to a cosmic display of stars, Milky Way, planets, moon, shooting star and as if by magic …the Northern Lights. Sometimes in this game it just all comes together on the night 😳😊

Over 30 people from Acklams Coaches and Craiglynne Hotel on Dark Sky walk last night.

Clear sky and all the constellations, three planets and Milky Way visible. Unfortunately no Northern Lights but I do warn them they have perhaps more chance of seeing the Loch Ness Monster 😳😆
