Why would anyone risk going to a non medical health professional is beyond me? Non medics claim that they do the same training as medical professionals so are our equals? This ignores the skills that are essential to safe practice and these cannot be taught on 1 or 2 day courses often being taught by other non medics who have themselves very little training. They may well think that they are offering consultations prior to treatment but what do they understand regarding medication interactions, medical conditions and treat accordingly?
If the public saw what questions are asked on these non medic fb sites they would be shocked! Recently a question was asked regarding the use of adrenaline, which was in their emergency kit. Firstly, they did not know what it was for and when told thought you injected it straight into the heart!!
Non medics are offering threads, filler into breasts and buttocks. A nurse, doctor or dentist offering these treatments requires CQC registration but non medics do not! The lack of regulation within aesthetics is simply appalling and does not exist in other countries who do not allow non medics to legally operate.
Cheap treatments are what they are often with little to no aftercare. I work within an industry which allows a once cab driver to provide treatments from his van!!
At the end of the day the choice is yours but remember it’s not an even playing field and when things do go wrong it’s us medical professionals who put them right!
