Half-Term is approaching fast! If you are stuck for ideas of fun things to do, don't forget we are open for Picnic and Day Boat, Canoe and Kayak Hire. Spring is a fantastic and peaceful time to explore the beautiful Norfolk Broads.

Dogs are welcome - doggy life jackets are supplied. We will supply life jackets, full instructions, a map and some ideas where to explore. Free parking.

Wherry Maud Trust are here tomorrow (Sunday 24th September) 11am to 4pm.

Maud is a traditional Norfolk Trading Wherry, built in 1899. Come and get on board, visit the pop up museum and learn about her from the Trust Members who help to keep her sailing for the future.

Holidays in Norfolk are not just for Spring and Summer! There is still lots to see and do in Autumn and Winter. Why not come to stay at Margaret’s or Norah’s Cottages in the Norfolk Broads village of Potter Heigham?

Both cosy cottages are located on the Historic Weaver’s Way walking & cycling route. A short walk brings you directly to the Heigham Sound and the Hickling Broad Nature Reserve where you can see Drainage Mills and an array of wild birds. There are several lovely walks around country lanes overlooking stunning scenery , beautiful skies & plenty of wildlife. Beautiful sandy beaches are a short drive away where you can wrap up warm and spot seals and their pups, or take a coastal walk. Head to Cromer for some crabbing and take in the views from the historic pier. The Medieval Potter Heigham Bridge is only a few minutes away. Have a trip on the North Norfolk Railway. You could hire a boat from Sutton Staithe Boatyard, take a picnic and relax on the tranquil waters of the Norfolk Broads. Admire stunning cloudscapes and sunsets directly from the Cottages. There are lots of Christmas events in Norfolk too should you wish to spend your Christmas Holiday here 🌲🎅 or bring in the New Year 🥂🥳

What a stunning view from the master bedroom taken on Friday by our Housekeeper. She also found this lovely review in the Guestbook:
"This is a well appointed cottage with very nice furniture and equipment. We had a pleasant, restful stay and occasionally saw dwarf deer in the early morning from the front kitchen window. Everything worked and was in good order. We have stayed over the years in many holiday cottages and I must say, this is one of the best. Thank you." - W & L 21 July 2023

"Lovely cottage in an amazing location. We have had a most enjoyable holiday and the wildlife is stunning. We've had small deer in the front garden early morning and seen owls flying over the fields behind the cottage at dusk. Add to that the lovely garden birds including a beautiful little wren, hares and a stag down the lane and a huge fox in the garden on our last night. It makes sense that we will be back. Thank you for providing such a well equipped cottage, we've lacked for nothing Jan" - Hilary and Tony

It was lovely to hear from our guests this week that they have enjoyed the peace and quiet at Margaret's Cottage - Potter Heigham 😊 They let us know that we currently have Robins nesting in one of our bird boxes 🥰 We try to welcome wildlife to the garden as much as we can with an array of different flowers. We have areas where we let the weeds and wildflowers grow which is especially good for the bees, butterflies and ladybirds. We love to hear what wildlife has visited the garden during your stay with us. Recently we have had visits from ducks, deer and a barn owl.

Our Gardener would love you to pick some fresh herbs to use if you do fancy cooking whilst staying at Margaret's Cottage. Depending on the time of year there is usually a selection of Rosemary, Thyme, Mint, Parsley, Sage, Chives and Oregano. Enjoy!
