Where: Departs from and returns to Oban.
Exact locations and route will vary but we will aim to cross the Minch to Barra and make our way up to Stornoway and back across the Little Minch to Skye before heading south to disembark at Oban ⛵️

When: 18th June - 27th June ☀️

Suitable For: For those up who want some 'proper' sailing. We do aim to get ashore as much as possible for some exploring but this trip is definitely sailing focused and likely we will spend several of the nights on anchor ⛵️⚓️

Cost: £1478 for a limited time only!!!

Our last trip of 2024 saw Taeping head south for the winter, enjoying some fine sailing as she swapped the Firth of Clyde for the Solway Firth. Now safely tucked up it's time to get stuck into one of the most extensive refits EVER!!

⭐️ Meet Our Crew ⭐️

Introducing another of our skippers, Ineke.

Ineke is an offshore sailor and skipper, with over 120.000nM of ocean sailing experience in racing and adventure sailing ⛵️
Recently she completed the Clipper Round the World Race as skipper of team Perseverance, leading the team to an overall 2nd place. When not racing, Ineke loves sailing to interesting destinations off the beaten track ⛵️

Prior to her sailing career she has 15+ years of professional experience in project/ program management, working on large scale programs with complex cultural and political aspects in the private sector, government and non-governmental organizations across countries and continents 🌍

Throughout Ineke’s personal and professional life she has been privileged to see much of the world, especially the oceans, both above and below the surface. This has instilled in Ineke a great sense of awe, inspiration and identity. She loves sharing this passion with others, helping them to come to love the ocean and sailing as much as she does ⛵️🌊

Ineke has been sailing with Ocean Sailing Scotland since 2019 on various trips around Western Scotland. In her words: “Scotland is one of my most favourite places to sail. For its natural beauty, the amazing towns and the understated but open and friendly sailing community it has.” ⛵️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Rockall!

In 2023 our yacht Taeping took part in an event to beat records, show that adventure was still alive and raise money for some very worthwhile charities.

Today, 26th October our principal skipper will attend the movie premiere "Rockall: The Edge Of Existence" in London which tells the tales of many of the adventurers who have conquered this amazing rock made famous by maritime weather forecasts.

Where: Departs from and returns to Oban.
Exact locations vary but will take in as much of the Inner Hebrides and West Coast as possible, from Rum down to Islay ⛵️

When: 8th June - 14th June 2025 ☀️

Suitable for: Those who want to experience sailing but also want a good amount of time onshore to explore. This trip is a good balance of time spent sailing to build skills and experience with lots of time factored in to get ashore and explore the Isles. So for those of you who want to try an extended sailing trip but still have plenty of time for land activities, this is for you 🥾

⭐️ Meet our crew ⭐️

Next up is (I wouldn't say the most important role but if it didn't exist there would definitely be a mutiny 😆) our hostess, Aneesh 😊

In comparison to the rest of the super experienced crew, Aneesh is fairly new to the world of sailing ⛵️

Staring her boating career when she left Scotland to travel in 2013, Aneesh became a dive instructor and snorkel guide 🤿🐠🐙🐬 spending many seasons in Tonga where she took people to swim with whales 🐋

COVID brought Aneesh back to Scotland where she hopped on another boat and started her journey to becoming a skipper while working as crew and a tour guide on scenic cruises around the clyde 🛥🏞

With her boat license freshly off the print, Aneesh was loaned out to Glenn as his assistant for a sailing regatta where a hilarious friendship was formed and this is where her sailing journey began ⛵️

If it's marine life spotting, some company on a walk ashore or the secret chocolate stash you're after, Aneesh is happy to share 🐬🍫

⭐️ Meet Our Crew ⭐️

Now we have most of our skippers out of the way we can move onto our equally important First Mate, Hamish ⛵️⚓️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hamish has been sailing as a mate on Taeping for the past couple of years ⛵️

He was introduced to sailing Warefarer dinghies at the Scout Adventure Centre in Lochgoilhead, and as an adult learned to windsurf whilst living and working in the Seychelles and Hong Kong ⛵️🏖

After returning to Scotland, he discovered it was much less appealing to capsize into the cold home waters and made the decision to learn to sail yachts 🥶⛵️

Hamish trained up to Yachtmaster Offshore and spent a short time as a cruising instructor ⚓️
He currently owns an Oceanis 37 which he sails around the Moray Firth and plans this summer to bring through the Caledonian Canal to spend time sailing on the West Coast of Scotland ⚓️⛵️☀️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Hamish is a fantastic first mate and extremely patient teacher so do not hesitate to ask him for help or advice ⭐️

Next up is the man of 1000 lives, skipper Andy ⛵️

Andy started boating as a teenager with the Sea Cadet in Grangemouth docks and studied seamanship at collage. As a young man he built his experience doing adventure sailing and major offshore yacht races such as the Fastnet and the Tall Ships race ⛵️

More recently he has been involved in dinghy racing in the UK and as a RYA Yachtmaster Instructor teaching skippers and crew to sail and race yachts around Scotland, Europe, the Caribbean, and Asia ⛵️⚓️🌍

Now he is looking forward to exploring the Scottish Islands as a skipper with Ocean Sailing Scotland ⛵️⚓️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Andy has a vast amount of knowledge and experience (and hilarious stories) so you can feel safe - and learn a lot - when he is on board 😊⛵️⚓️

⭐️Meet Our Crew⭐️

First up has to be our principal skipper and driving force behind all things OSS, Glenn ⛵️
Glenn enjoyed various water sports as a child, but it wasn’t until starting his career that he returned to the water and got involved in sailing ⛵️🌊
Glenn has been involved in particular with Clipper 60 yachts (Taeping and her sister ships) since 2006 working his way up from volunteer to principal skipper ⚓️
Recently returning to dinghy sailing (or boats without toilets, as Glenn calls them) Glenn is also our sustainability lead.

Also working as an RYA cruising instructor, when not Skippering or helping to run Taeping, Glenn also supports youth and charitable sailing activities throughout Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Working on Taeping since her delivery trip to Scotland in 2017, Glenn is also our GoTo for all the weird questions and difficult maintenance between trips 🔨

For crew and guests alike, Glenn is an incredibly patient teacher and even if you think you can't, Glenn will make you believe you can ⭐️

The chilly north wind was no match for the crews excitement as they entered the sea locks at Inverness.

Lock transits, canal cruising and some local walking and exploring around the start if the river Ness where the order of the day. :-)
